The start of Group B immediately divided the teams between the upper and lower brackets of the double-elimination format. The first two series determined the next round’s matchups and highlighted the difference between a convincing victory for the favorites and a match that had to be decided on the third map.

Tournament context

IEM Beijing 2026 features a double-elimination Bo3 group stage. The winners of the Opening round advance to the Upper semi-finals and remain on the direct path to the playoffs, while the losing teams drop to Lower round 1 and can no longer afford another series defeat.

In the opening matches of Group B, MOUZ defeated TYLOO without needing a third map, while BETBOOM had to recover from losing Dust2 against 9z. As a result, MOUZ and BETBOOM will face each other in the Upper semi-finals, while TYLOO and 9z will meet in Lower round 1.
