The matchup between NAVI and WBT Team went beyond an ordinary academy match. After NAVI Junior’s victory at the LAN in Portugal, NAVI’s official account recalled Kane’s words about the organization losing its dominant position in Ukrainian Counter-Strike, turning the result of the series into a separate reason for mockery.
NAVI Junior defeated WBT Team
NAVI Junior closed the series against WBT Team with a 2:0 score. On Anubis, NAVI’s academy won 13:11, and on Dust2, they finished off the opponent 16:14, not allowing WBT to send the match to a third map.
The best player of the series was MahaR with a 1.55 rating, 49–29 statistics, and 93.0 ADR. For WBT, DemQQ showed the best performance — 41–34 and a 1.39 rating, but that was not enough to win even one map.
NAVI responded to Kane’s words
After the match, NAVI’s official account decided to remind everyone of Kane’s previous statement. The coach said that the goal of WBT Team is to return Ukrainian Counter-Strike to dominant positions, considering that NAVI, in his opinion, had lost that status.
The victory of NAVI’s academy roster specifically made the situation especially convenient for a response. The organization effectively used the result of its youth team as an argument in the discussion about who is currently shaping the future of the Ukrainian scene.
NAVI Junior are quickly rising in VRS
The tournament in Portugal is important for NAVI Junior not only because of the principled victory. Before the start of the competition, the team was in 128th position in the Valve ranking, and has now climbed to 86th place.
Such progress is especially important for the academy, since VRS directly affects access to stronger tournaments. The higher NAVI Junior can establish themselves, the more often the young roster will get the opportunity to test itself against more experienced opponents.

MahaR continues to stand out
MahaR again deserves separate attention. The Czech became NAVI Junior’s main force in the match against WBT and finished the series with the highest rating among all ten players.
His performances only strengthen the discussion about a potential move to the main roster in the future. It is still too early to talk about specific changes, but if MahaR continues to show this level, his candidacy will become increasingly difficult to ignore.
Ukrainian organizations are developing different models
The situation is also interesting in a broader context. NAVI have four Ukrainian players in their CS rosters — two in the main team and two in the academy. WBT Team have ten Ukrainians between the main lineup and the academy roster.
B8 Esports and Inner Circle have gone even further: each organization has 15 Ukrainian players if the main roster and two academies are counted. That means the Ukrainian scene is currently developing simultaneously through NAVI’s international model and through fully local projects from other clubs.
The discussion about the status of Ukrainian CS is only beginning
It is especially symbolic that NAVI currently have roughly the same chances of reaching the Major as B8 and Inner Circle. At the same time, NAVI compete with an international roster, while their competitors are betting on Ukrainian players.
Therefore, one NAVI Junior victory over WBT is unlikely to put an end to the debate raised by Kane. On the contrary, it only adds new context to it: the Ukrainian scene now has several strong projects with different approaches, and the new leader will have to be determined by results over a longer distance.
