New data mined from Counter-Strike 2’s game files has revealed two separate leaks that are exciting the community. According to leaker ThourCS2, the files point to a possible new M14 sniper rifle, while other files confirm that the long-awaited Cobblestone map is still being developed.
Both discoveries matter because they come straight from the game’s internal files rather than rumors. As a result, players see them as strong signs of what Valve may be preparing for CS2 in the near future.
Background
CS2 players have been asking about two things for a long time. First, many want new weapons added to the game’s current lineup. Second, many want the classic Cobblestone map to return, since it was a fan favorite in earlier versions of Counter-Strike. Data miners regularly search through the game’s files for clues about upcoming content, and these two topics are exactly what the latest leaks touch on.
The M14 Sniper Rifle Leak
The first leak comes from the weapons.vdata file, which lists detailed stats for a weapon called “weapon_m14”. According to the data, the rifle would cost $4100 and use a five-round magazine. In addition, the file lists .338 ammunition, 115 damage, an armor ratio of 1.95, and a penetration value of 2.5.
The weapon also carries a headshot multiplier of 4.0 and a kill award of $100. Interestingly, the file classifies the M14 under the rifle gear slot rather than a dedicated sniper category, even though its stats resemble a sniper-style weapon. Therefore, it is still unclear exactly how the weapon will function once, or if, it is added to the game.

Cobblestone Map Development Continues
The second leak focuses on Cobblestone, one of the most requested maps in the CS2 community. ThourCS2 confirmed that Valve developers are still working on the map. However, there is currently no confirmed release date.
Supporting files show ambience sound settings for several familiar Cobblestone locations, including the A bombsite, CT ramp, A long, A long courtyard, T start, mid, snake stairs, and the fireplace area. Each of these zones is tagged with either outdoor or indoor sound settings, which suggests that the map’s audio design is already being built out in detail.

Why This Matters for CS2 Players
Although neither leak has been officially confirmed by Valve, both point to active development behind the scenes. The M14 data suggests that new weapons could still be added to CS2’s arsenal. Meanwhile, the Cobblestone sound files show that a classic map is progressing, even without a set timeline.
For now, players will need to wait for official word from Valve. Still, these leaks give the community a clearer picture of what might be coming next to Counter-Strike 2.
