Spirit and MOUZ have long established one of the most frequent top-level rivalries in CS2. Today, the teams will meet for the 21st time since the game’s release, with 18 of their previous 20 series taking place at tier-1 tournaments. For now, Spirit retain the historical advantage — 12:8.

The 21st meeting between Spirit and MOUZ

The next match will take place at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 in the fourth round of the Swiss Stage. Both teams enter the match with a 2:1 record, meaning the winner will immediately secure a playoff spot, while the losing team will move into the decisive 2:2 group.

The series will be played in a Bo3 format, adding even more significance to their head-to-head history. Spirit and MOUZ meet so regularly at major tournaments that today’s match will mark the fourth consecutive year in which the rivals have faced each other multiple times.

Spirit lead the head-to-head record 12:8

The teams’ first CS2 match took place back in 2023 and ended in a 2:0 victory for Spirit. In 2024, the rivals met five times: Spirit won three series, while MOUZ responded with two victories.

The highest number of matches came in 2025 and 2026. In both seasons, the teams played seven series, with Spirit holding a narrow 4:3 advantage each time. This is why the overall record ahead of today’s match stands at 12:8.

MOUZ won the last two series

However, the recent head-to-head results are no longer as comfortable for Spirit. MOUZ won both of the last two meetings: the European team first secured a 2:0 victory before winning another series 2:1.

For Spirit, today’s match represents an opportunity not only to qualify for the PGL Masters Bucharest playoffs but also to end this short losing streak. MOUZ, meanwhile, can secure a third consecutive victory over an opponent that has historically won this matchup more often.

The map pool offers opportunities for both teams

According to statistics from the last three months, Spirit look particularly strong on Anubis with an 80% win rate, Ancient with 73%, and Dust2 with 71%. MOUZ hold a significant advantage on Mirage with 80%, while also recording 75% on Inferno and Nuke.

As a result, the veto could become one of the key elements of the series. Spirit may feel more comfortable on Dust2, Ancient, and Anubis, while MOUZ have strong options on Mirage and Nuke. In such a familiar rivalry, the map selection itself could determine the direction of the entire series.

Another chapter in a familiar rivalry

Over three years, Spirit and MOUZ have played 20 series, with only two taking place outside tier-1 tournaments. This is no longer just a coincidence of frequent meetings, but a full-fledged rivalry between two teams that regularly reach the same decisive stages of major events.

Today, a 21st match will be added to that history. Spirit enter with an overall 12:8 advantage, but MOUZ have won the last two series. And the stakes this time are very clear: victory means direct qualification for the PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 playoffs.
