SportsBetExpert owner Peter “PETE187” Anadio is leaving Counter-Strike 2, less than 24 hours after he said he was weighing an exit. He has now told his team they are free to search for other opportunities. Dust2.us confirms that the lineup are free agents.
This story matters because it closes a short but loud chapter in North American CS2. The organization rose to a Top 5 spot in the regional rankings. However, its owner also built a reputation for abrasive behavior online. Therefore, his exit leaves a complicated legacy.
A Big-Name Start and a Roster Reset
Anadio’s time in the scene lasted 17 months. SportsBetExpert’s first serious move came in August 2025. The organization signed Adam “freshie” Paterson, Bogdan “ogwizard” Savula and Ethan “reck” Serrano. These signings put the team on the map right away.
However, the early results were slow. The strategy of stacking big names did not produce a winning roster. As a result, Anadio cut the entire lineup in March 2026. He said at the time: “I am so f***ing over the unseriousness from this team.”
From Top 5 Contender to a Missed Major Dream
The second roster showed the organization’s real ambitions. It was built around Jaxon “Peeping” Cornwell, Gage “Infinite” Green and Kevin “consti” Yi. The team quickly rose to Top 5 in the North American VRS. It was also a regular title contender, both online and offline.
Still, LAN trophies stayed out of reach. SportsBetExpert lost the finals at FRAG St. Clair 2026 and FRAG Midwest: St. Louis 2026. In addition, the team went out in the group stage at ROG Journey Autumn 2026, its first international LAN. That result effectively ended its long-shot chance of reaching the PGL Singapore Major.
Several people in the scene, including Graham “messioso” Pitt, publicly told Anadio that the team had no realistic chance of qualifying. Even so, the Major remained a serious goal for him. That goal, together with monthly costs of $20k to support the team, seemingly led to his final decision to leave.
A Combative Presence Off the Server
Anadio’s behavior also made him few fans. At first, it could be seen as bravado and passion. Over time, however, he took an increasingly confrontational and offensive approach to running the SportsBetExpert brand.
He often ranted about supposed enemies in the scene. He also shared outspoken anti-LGBT views and blocked people who disagreed with him. As a result, he faced near constant derision from scene insiders and the community. According to Dust2.us, many fans wished for the team’s downfall. The report adds that this undoubtedly affected the squad and Anadio’s own attitude toward the CS2 scene.
What Comes Next for the Former Roster
Meanwhile, the players are already looking ahead. Head coach Brennan “Aureo” O’Connell told Dust2.us that the team intends to stay together while it searches for a new organization. The group will also play at the Austin LAN next month, because the entry was already paid for before SportsBetExpert pulled the plug.
The final SportsBetExpert roster included Peeping, consti, Infinite, Shane “shane” Dressler and Ian “motm” Hardy, with Aureo as coach.
In the end, the exit closes a chapter built on both strong results and constant controversy. For the players, it opens a new one. A Top 5 North American lineup is now free to find a new home, and the Austin LAN will be its first test.
