Thorin doubts NAVI’s title chances with the current roster

Analyst Thorin has questioned NAVI’s championship prospects with the current roster. In his opinion, the team still plays the right kind of CS, can fight any opponent, and does not look like a team in crisis, but for victories at big tournaments they lack the most important thing — stable firepower and a map on which they could dominate against top opponents.

Thorin does not call NAVI a weak team and does not reduce the problem to a complete failure of the roster. On the contrary, he emphasizes that the team still has the right game structure, understands the basic principles of top-level CS, and is capable of maintaining a competitive level in matches against the strongest opponents.

That is why his assessment does not look like emotional criticism, but rather an attempt to separate a “good team” from a “team that actually wins trophies.” In their current state, NAVI can be dangerous in individual series, but that is no longer enough for championship status.

The main problem is firepower

Thorin’s key complaint concerns the roster’s individual resources. He stated directly:

The main problem for NAVI is that in some matches they lack firepower. They no longer have a map on which they can dominate at the highest level.

This thought clearly explains why NAVI can look organized, but still fail to close the most important matches. If a team does not have a stable advantage in duels and cannot regularly outplay opponents through individual class, even the right structure begins to break under pressure.

The map pool problem

It is also important that Thorin is talking not only about shooting, but also about maps. For a top team, having at least one maximally comfortable map often becomes the foundation in the playoffs: it allows them to take their own pick, create pressure in the veto, and force the opponent to adapt.

According to this logic, NAVI currently do not have a map where they look confident enough to dominate at the highest level. This makes every series more difficult, because the team does not have an obvious area of strength around which they can consistently build a path to victory.

Why trophies seem out of reach

The harshest part of Thorin’s assessment is that he no longer believes in NAVI winning big tournaments with this roster. According to him, this is still a good team that plays the right kind of CS and can compete evenly with anyone, but winning trophies looks like an almost impossible task.

This is an important wording, because the difference between “competing” and “winning” in modern CS is very large. A team can go far, take maps from favorites, and look dangerous, but a title requires series where structure, individual form, map pool, and psychological stability all work at the same time.

What this means for NAVI

For NAVI, this criticism does not necessarily mean that the roster needs to be changed immediately. But it clearly highlights the main question: can the current five add enough individual sharpness to become a real championship team again, and not just a stable participant in deep stages?

For now, the answer looks ambiguous. NAVI have the system, experience, and level to remain among dangerous opponents, but without a clear increase in firepower and without a map where the team can dictate the terms, conversations about trophies will continue to come with a big question mark.

Main takeaway

Thorin’s words do not sound like a complete write-off of NAVI, but they describe well the current ceiling of this roster. The team is strong enough to be competitive, but not convincing enough to be seen as a stable title contender.

That is why the main intrigue for NAVI right now is not whether they can win one important match. The question is deeper: whether the team can find a new level of firepower and map confidence, without which the fight for trophies at the highest level almost always ends half a step short of the goal.
