Valve has corrected its Valve Regional Standings (VRS) rankings dated September 7, 2026. The update removes results from unfinished events that were mistakenly included when the list first went live.
This situation stands out because it has never happened before. This is the first time Valve released the VRS rankings late. It is also the first time Valve has adjusted the rankings after publishing them.
A Late Start Sets Off the Confusion
Valve was expected to publish the September 7 rankings on that same day. These rankings matter because tournament organizers use them to decide which teams receive invites. However, Valve did not release the list on time. Instead, the rankings appeared roughly 30 hours late, close to the end of September 8.
An Error Slips Into the Standings
When the delayed rankings finally arrived, they included matches from a tier-3 tournament. According to the original rules, these matches should not have counted toward the VRS points. As a result, the initial numbers were slightly off.
The mistake affected only a few points for the teams involved. Still, in a system where invites depend on exact standings, even a small gap can change the outcome for a team on the edge of qualification.
Community members noticed the discrepancy and raised the issue publicly. Valve then reviewed the rankings and released a corrected version at around 20:40 CEST.
Which Teams Moved After the Fix
The correction changed positions only for teams ranked outside the top 30. BC.Game, previously ranked 37th, swapped places with K27, previously ranked 38th. Similarly, Nemesis, previously ranked 44th, swapped positions with Luminosity, previously ranked 45th. In addition, several other teams further down the list moved up or down by one or more spots.
Why This Correction Matters
This episode marks two firsts for Valve’s ranking system: the first late release and the first post-publication correction. For teams close to the qualification line, a shift of even one position can decide whether they receive an invite. Therefore, the accuracy of the VRS list remains critical for the competitive Counter-Strike scene going forward.
