At BLAST Open London 2025, the Group A lower bracket clash featured fnatic against GamerLegion. Both teams were fighting for survival, as a loss meant elimination. The best-of-three series ended 2:0 in favor of fnatic, who once again proved their experience and composure in decisive moments.

Teams’ Path in the Tournament

fnatic started with a loss to Natus Vincere (0:2), which immediately sent them to the lower bracket. There they confidently defeated ECSTATIC (2:0). In the lower bracket semifinal, they faced a tougher challenge in GamerLegion, but experience and stability allowed fnatic to secure a crucial 2:0 victory and stay alive in the tournament.

GamerLegion, on the other hand, opened with a convincing win against Virtus.pro (2:0), which boosted the fans’ optimism. However, they then fell to Vitality (1:2) and dropped into the lower bracket. Facing fnatic, they looked unstable and despite some bright moments, suffered a 0:2 loss, ending their BLAST Open London 2025 run.

Match Timeline

  • Train (13:11, fnatic’s pick)

fnatic chose Train and justified their decision. The first half was tightly contested (7:5 in favor of GL), but after the switch KRIMZ and blameF consistently won key duels, while jambo added pace with aggressive entries. GamerLegion tried to turn things around with REZ’s impact, but fnatic held their advantage and closed the map 13:11.

  • Ancient (13:11, GamerLegion’s pick)

The second map followed a similar script. GL looked confident early on, but fnatic quickly adapted. CYHPER and jambo secured several key rounds in the mid-game, while KRIMZ once again became the stabilizing factor in clutch situations. Despite the efforts of REZ and Tauson, fnatic remained more composed and closed the map 13:11 — sealing the series 2:0.

Player Stats for the Match

Player of the Match

The MVP was Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson. The legendary Swede once again proved his indispensable value for fnatic, delivering stable performances on both maps.

  • K-D: 33–28 (+5)
  • ADR: 76.1
  • Rating 3.0: 1.16

KRIMZ was the glue that kept fnatic composed in tense rounds. His confident clutches, smart positional play, and disciplined defense helped fnatic close out both maps. This underlines his role not only as a veteran but also as the backbone of the roster.

Team Performance

  • fnatic

KRIMZ was the main hero, bringing calm and stability when it mattered most. CYHPER (37–33, rating 1.15) stood out with sharp entries on Ancient, giving fnatic room to execute attacks. blameF (34–28, rating 1.11) provided balance, playing smart and securing clutches. jambo (37–29, rating 1.08) constantly pressured the opponent with aggressive moves, creating space for teammates. The weakest statistically was fear (33–37, rating 0.85), but even he contributed with vital utility usage, position-holding, and support.

  • GamerLegion

REZ (39–36, rating 1.12) was the clear leader, winning crucial duels and trying to drag his team forward. Tauson (33–35, rating 1.05) remained consistent, helping in both attack and defense, while PR (33–37, rating 1.01) played steadily but without standout impact. Kursy (26–31, rating 0.93) struggled to make an impact, especially in decisive rounds. The weakest link was ztr (20–35, rating 0.75), whose poor performance on Ancient effectively cost GL their comeback chances.

Previous Encounter

fnatic and GamerLegion had already faced each other earlier this year at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 Europe RMR in April. That time, they played a best-of-one on Anubis, where fnatic came out on top 13:8. Just like in this series, fnatic’s experience and stability proved decisive, while GamerLegion once again lacked the finishing touch in critical rounds.

fnatic reaffirmed their class with a 2:0 victory, advancing further in the BLAST Open London 2025 lower bracket. The mix of veteran experience and the stability of new blood proved to be the winning formula.

GamerLegion, meanwhile, exit the tournament after another painful loss. Despite REZ’s efforts, the team lacked cohesion and discipline in decisive rounds to truly challenge fnatic.
