Behind the nickname nocries is Maidar, an 18-year-old player of Mongolian origin who grew up in Buryatia and later moved to the United States for his studies. He was introduced to Counter-Strike at just six years old, starting with the legendary 1.6. By the age of 11, he switched to CS:GO and quickly rose to the highest ranks, often leaving classmates doubting whether his skills were even real.

By 16, Maidar had already achieved his first FACEIT level 10 after only about 150 matches — a milestone that most players struggle to reach even after years of grinding.

The FACEIT office test

His rapid rise on FACEIT in CS2 set off alarm bells across the community. In just over a thousand games, he climbed to the very top of the leaderboards, drawing suspicion even from veteran grinders. To address this, FACEIT took an extraordinary step: they invited him to their New York office to prove his skills live.

On September 24, 2025, Maidar played five monitored matches under the watch of FACEIT’s anti-cheat team. He won four of them, posted consistently high numbers, and ended with a rating well above average. FACEIT confirmed no suspicious activity was detected:

Maidar is playing under observation on equipment configured by our anti-cheat team, allowing him to showcase his game in a fully controlled environment.

The platform also rewarded him with an invite to test himself in FPL, the FACEIT Pro League, where future professionals are forged.

A reminder of the ropz story

The CS community has seen this before. Back in 2017, a young ropz was accused of cheating after his meteoric rise on FACEIT. He too was called into FACEIT’s office, proved his legitimacy, and shortly after joined MOUZ — beginning a career that turned him into one of Counter-Strike’s greatest.

Now, many are asking: could nocries be following the same path?

Numbers that stand out

While FACEIT’s verdict cleared him, the numbers also tell their own story. Over his career, nocries has maintained a winrate above 55% across more than a thousand matches. His average performance consistently puts him at the top of scoreboards, and on maps like Mirage and Nuke he shows some of his best results. His recent streaks demonstrate not just raw skill but stability over time.

What the scene says

The hype around nocries has already drawn reactions from pros and analysts:

device shared his perspective:

I think nocries is clean. There’s too much pressure when you play in a different environment, and that affects everyone. I’ve played FACEIT NA myself once and it was terrible.

Meanwhile, North American analyst Mauisnake took a closer look at his demos and came to a striking conclusion:

I thought he was cheating at first, but after watching demos from the past six months, weeks, and days, I can say he deserves to play in a top-20 team as a sniper.

magixx even joked about building a “super team” with names like donk, kyousuke, and nocries that could “tear apart the universe.”

Next Steps

For now, nocries has passed his first major test. The FACEIT office trial gave him credibility, and the FPL invite opens the door to playing against professionals. If he maintains his level under pressure, this story could mark the beginning of CS2’s next breakout career.
