Tournament context
IEM Rio 2026 is played in a group stage format with double-elimination Bo3. In the opening upper-bracket matches, a win moves a team into the upper semi-finals, while a loss immediately sends it to lower round 1, where tournament pressure instantly becomes much higher.
In Group B, one of the opening matches was the series between Aurora and HOTU. For both teams, this was a chance to immediately secure a place in the upper half of the bracket, but from the very first map Aurora began dictating the terms.

On Dust2, the match was much closer, but even there Aurora did not lose control in the decisive moments and closed out the map in overtime. As a result, Aurora start Group B confidently and advance to the upper semi-finals, while HOTU are forced to continue the tournament through lower round 1.
