This is especially noticeable when the favorite does not just win, but completely takes control of both maps.
Tournament context
IEM Rio 2026 is played in a group stage format with double-elimination Bo3. In the opening upper-bracket matches, a win moves a team into the upper semi-finals, while a loss immediately sends it to lower round 1, where there is almost no room left for another mistake.
In Group B, one of the opening matches was the series between FURIA and Passion UA. For both teams, this was a chance to immediately establish themselves in the upper side of the bracket and take an important step toward the fight for a playoff berth.

FURIA delivered a very clean and controlled series, never allowing Passion UA to truly impose a fight. The key moment was the Ukrainian team’s collapse on their own Inferno pick, after which the match immediately shifted into the Brazilian roster’s script.
