Mirage and Dust2 together make up over 50% of all Counter-Strike 2 matches played right now. New data from Scope.gg confirms just how strongly these two maps dominate the current map pool. As a result, players on both Valve’s Premier mode and the third-party platform FACEIT are seeing far less variety than the full map pool suggests.
This matters because CS2’s competitive map pool currently includes several other maps. However, the numbers show that most players are simply not picking them. In addition, the gap between the top two maps and the rest of the pool is significant, which raises questions about how balanced the current pick rates really are.
How the Data Was Tracked
Scope.gg gathered the figures by comparing map pick rates on Valve’s Premier mode against FACEIT over roughly nine weeks. The tracking period ran from July 6 to September 8, 2026. Therefore, the data reflects a recent and consistent snapshot of player behavior across both platforms, rather than a single moment in time.
Full Breakdown by Map
Mirage was the most picked map on FACEIT, reaching a 28.5% pick rate. On Premier, Mirage was also popular, though slightly less so, at 26.3%. Dust2 followed closely behind on both platforms. It reached 23.6% on FACEIT and, notably, slightly overtook Mirage on Premier with a 25.9% pick rate.
Anubis came next, though with a clear drop-off. It was picked 13.7% of the time on FACEIT, but only 8.1% of the time on Premier. Ancient showed a smaller gap between the two platforms, with a 13.3% pick rate on FACEIT and 11.2% on Premier.
Meanwhile, Nuke and Inferno performed better on Premier than on FACEIT. Nuke reached 10.5% on Premier compared to 7.8% on FACEIT. Inferno followed a similar pattern, with an 11.3% pick rate on Premier against just 7.7% on FACEIT. Cache remained a minor pick on both platforms, at 6.6% on Premier and 4.5% on FACEIT.
Two maps barely registered at all. Vertigo reached only 0.64% on FACEIT and did not appear in the Premier data. Overpass was even rarer, picked just 0.25% of the time on FACEIT and 0.09% of the time on Premier.

Why This Matters for CS2’s Map Pool
The data raises a clear question for the CS2 community. If Mirage and Dust2 alone account for more than half of all matches, the rest of the map pool is seeing very little use. For example, Vertigo and Overpass are picked so rarely that they are, in practice, nearly absent from competitive play.
This imbalance could eventually influence how Valve approaches map pool changes. As a result, community discussion around map rotation and balance is likely to continue as long as Mirage and Dust2 keep such a dominant share of the pick rate.
