The Esports World Cup organizers have announced a major venue change for the final day of the Counter-Strike 2 Championship. Strong ticket demand forced them to move the Grand Final to the much larger Accor Arena in Paris, the venue that hosted the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023.

The Esports World Cup originally planned to host the entire CS2 tournament at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles after relocating the event from Riyadh to Paris. However, fans quickly sold out tickets for the Grand Final. To accommodate more spectators, the organizers moved Championship Sunday to Accor Arena, where the title match will take place on August 23.

The arena holds a special place in Counter-Strike history. Vitality won their first Major there in 2023, and the venue remains one of Europe’s most iconic esports stages.

Most of the tournament stays at Paris Expo

The venue change only affects the final day of the championship. The group stage, as well as the opening rounds of the playoffs, will still take place at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. EWC also confirmed that all previously purchased tickets remain valid, so fans do not need to exchange them. At the same time, the organizers released an additional batch of tickets for the Grand Final.

A $2 million championship

The Counter-Strike 2 Championship at EWC 2026 will feature 32 teams, with four qualifying through a large LAN open qualifier. The top 16 teams will advance to the playoffs, where they will compete for a $2 million prize pool.

The tournament also contributes points toward the overall Esports World Cup Club Championship. After four weeks of competition, NAVI lead the standings. Vitality occupy third place, while Falcons sit sixth. The organization that finishes first will earn a $7 million Club Championship bonus.

The news quickly generated positive reactions across the Counter-Strike community. NAVI posted, “We’re gonna be there no matter what.” Vitality wrote, “We’re ready to lift another trophy in the Accor Arena,” while Fnatic simply called it an “insane arena.”

Fans ask about seating

Alongside the excitement, many fans asked how the new seating arrangement would work. The organizers confirmed that spectators who purchased tickets in the same order will still sit together. They also reassured fans that existing tickets remain valid and do not require an exchange. Some community members, however, criticized the lack of a Call of Duty LCQ broadcast and reported issues with the ticketing website.

What this means for EWC 2026

Moving the Grand Final to Accor Arena highlights the growing popularity of Counter-Strike 2 and the overwhelming demand for one of the biggest matches of the year. With a larger venue, thousands more fans will have the opportunity to attend Championship Sunday in person, creating an atmosphere worthy of a tournament of this scale.

For EWC, the decision also represents an important milestone. After relocating the event to Paris earlier this year, the organizers have now upgraded the championship’s biggest day to one of Europe’s most iconic esports arenas, setting the stage for a memorable conclusion to the $2 million CS2 tournament.
