The first semi-final of PGL Astana 2026 ended in complete dominance from Falcons. The European superteam defeated magic 2-0 in a one-sided series and secured their place in the grand final after another commanding playoff performance. Despite magic arriving with several upset victories earlier in the tournament, Falcons immediately showed the difference in experience and firepower. Road to the grand final
Falcons continue one of the strongest playoff runs of the tournament so far. The team defeated K27, Monte, The MongolZ, FURIA and now magic while steadily improving throughout the event.
magic, meanwhile, became one of the biggest surprise teams of PGL Astana 2026 after victories over K27, HEROIC, Gentle Mates and 9z helped them reach the semi-finals despite entering the tournament as major underdogs.
The result also impacted the VRS standings. Falcons gained +15 points and strengthened their top-four global position with 1927 total points, while magic lost four points despite their impressive tournament run.

Falcons dominate Ancient from the start

The series opened on Ancient — magic’s map pick — but Falcons immediately took full control of the game. NiKo and m0NESY constantly punished every aggressive move from magic, while kyousuke repeatedly shut down attempts to gain middle control.
magic struggled heavily on the T side and rarely found openings against Falcons’ defensive setups. Even when the CIS roster managed to secure opening kills, Falcons consistently recovered through coordinated rotations and superior utility usage.
The first map quickly turned one-sided as Falcons stormed to a comfortable 13-7 victory.
Dust2 turns into another one-sided map
The second map on Dust2 followed nearly the exact same pattern. Falcons looked significantly sharper individually and constantly outclassed magic in direct aim duels.
m0NESY completely controlled the pace of the game with the AWP, while NiKo repeatedly punished rotations and late executes around A site. Falcons rapidly built economy and never allowed magic to establish confidence on the map.
By the second half, the outcome already looked inevitable. Falcons closed Dust2 13-5 and completed a clean 2-0 sweep to secure their place in the grand final.

m0NESY completely takes over the server

Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov became the undisputed MVP of the series and delivered another elite playoff performance.
The young superstar finished the match with a massive 1.68 rating, 104.4 ADR and +7.92% swing while dominating both maps individually. NiKo also looked outstanding with a 1.49 rating, while TeSeS and kyousuke provided strong support throughout the series.
For magic, no player managed to seriously challenge Falcons statistically. Abdulrahim “mo0N” Issa was the team’s highest-rated player with only a 1.08 rating, while MaSvAl and sFade8 both struggled heavily across the series.

Following the victory, Falcons immediately celebrated reaching another major final on social media. The organization posted:
