GamerLegion have announced the signing of Aleksandr “shalfey” Marenov. He will take over in-game leadership of the team from Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski, who was benched earlier on Wednesday.
This move matters because it is a major change for a team under pressure. A new leader is arriving at a critical time, and he has no international experience in this role.
Why GamerLegion Made the Change
shalfey joins after spending the last two months with ex-RUSTEC. During that time, he played in several online competitions. The 24-year-old also averaged a 1.06 rating across multiple stints in different domestic rosters during 2026.
However, this is his first international project. He is now tasked with leading the team.
The Move and What Comes Next
The news comes shortly after GamerLegion finished last at the PGL Bucharest 2027 Closed Qualifier. As a result, the team are almost out of the race for the Singapore Major.
Therefore, the signing looks like an attempt to reset the roster quickly. shalfey will make his GamerLegion debut at the RLG Tesla Cup 2026. In the first round, the international squad will face Envy.
With shalfey on board, the lineup includes Fredrik “REZ” Sterner, Sebastian “Tauson” Tauson Lindelof, Timur “FL4MUS” Marev, Milan “hypex” Polowiec and shalfey himself. Adrian “imd” Pieper remains the coach.

What This Means for the Team
In short, GamerLegion have made a clear change in leadership after a poor qualifier run. Snax is out of the lineup, and shalfey takes his place. Meanwhile, the Singapore Major race is now very hard for the team to win back. The RLG Tesla Cup 2026 will therefore be the first test of the new setup, starting with the match against Envy.
