FaZe AWPer Jason “JBOEN” Boe Nielsen says the team feel less pressure after securing qualification for PGL Major Singapore 2026, but remain focused on winning tournaments. Speaking in an interview with HLTV during the media day at IEM Beijing 2026, the Danish player discussed the improved atmosphere within FaZe, his development as an AWPer and the upcoming match against FURIA.
FaZe enter IEM Beijing following a third-place finish at RLG Tesla Cup 2026, where their results helped secure their Major invitation. The team now return to tier-one competition without the same pressure of collecting VRS points.
FaZe feel less pressure after Major qualification
According to JBOEN, securing a Major place has made the situation more comfortable for the players. Previously, FaZe needed strong results at smaller tournaments to improve their position in the Valve Regional Standings.
Going to the Major is definitely more relaxing now. We don’t have to stress about the points anymore.
However, JBOEN emphasized that the team have not changed their ambitions. FaZe still want to win IEM Beijing, even though they no longer face the same requirement to collect ranking points.
The AWPer also welcomed the opportunity to compete against stronger opponents after several months of playing smaller LAN tournaments. He believes facing top teams is necessary for FaZe to continue improving.
JBOEN confirms improvements in the team atmosphere
JBOEN also discussed the atmosphere within FaZe, admitting that the team experienced difficulties after Esports World Cup 2026. According to him, players sometimes became frustrated after mistakes and focused too heavily on their individual decisions.
I definitely feel like it’s getting better and better with the mood.
He credited Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken for helping create a more positive environment. JBOEN and Ryan “Neityu” Aubry have also contributed to improving communication and maintaining confidence during matches.
The Danish player admitted that overthinking remains an issue. He explained that FaZe sometimes try too hard to make perfect decisions, which can negatively affect their gameplay.
The team have also changed how they review their performances, paying more attention to successful moments rather than discussing only mistakes.
JBOEN praises Twistzz and discusses his future
JBOEN highlighted the support he receives from the experienced players and coaching staff. He believes that regular practice and additional responsibilities have helped him improve his decision-making and individual performance.
The AWPer also praised Twistzz in his role as in-game leader, explaining that the captain gives him the freedom needed to play his positions effectively.
However, his long-term future with FaZe remains uncertain. JBOEN is currently playing on loan, and when asked whether the move could become permanent, he said there was no update.
FaZe prepare to face FURIA at IEM Beijing
FaZe will begin their IEM Beijing 2026 campaign against FURIA on November 2 at 08:00 CET. Their opponents enter the tournament after winning PGL Masters Bucharest 2026, where they defeated Nemiga 3:2 in the Grand Final.
Despite the recent success of FURIA, JBOEN believes FaZe should approach the match in the same way as any other opponent. He explained that the team will follow their usual preparation and focus on executing their game plan.
For FaZe, IEM Beijing represents an opportunity to test their progress against tier-one opposition after a period of rebuilding and competing in smaller tournaments.
