MIBR kept their Esports World Cup 2026 campaign alive with a convincing 2-0 victory over K27 in the Group B lower bracket. The Brazilian side survived a competitive opening map before taking complete control on Nuke, eliminating K27 from the tournament and advancing to the group’s deciding match.
MIBR close the series in two maps
K27 started the series on their own pick of Cache, but MIBR quickly showed they were ready for the challenge. The opening half was extremely close, with MIBR taking a narrow 7-5 advantage before the teams switched sides. K27 continued to fight after the break, but the Brazilians were more composed in the decisive rounds and closed the map 13-10.
Nuke was far more one-sided. MIBR established a 7-5 lead in the first half and completely shut K27 down after switching sides. The Brazilian team won six consecutive rounds to finish the map 13-5, completing the 2-0 series victory without needing Ancient.
insani leads MIBR to victory
Felipe “insani” Yuji was comfortably the best player of the series. The Brazilian finished the two maps with a 1.61 rating, 40-27 K-D and an impressive 107.2 ADR, producing the biggest individual impact on the server.
Lucas “nqz” Soares also delivered an excellent performance, recording a 1.49 rating and finishing 40-23. Carlos “venomzera” Eduardo added a 1.20 rating as three MIBR players ended the match above the 1.00 mark.
K27 struggled to match that firepower. Timur “clax” Sabirov was their highest-rated player at 1.02, while Aleksey “xeedo” Mikulich finished with a 1.00 rating.
K27’s Esports World Cup run comes to an end
K27 arrived at the main event after earning their place through the open qualifier, but their run in Paris ended without a series victory. Their first match ended in a 13-6 defeat against Falcons, sending them directly into the Group B lower bracket. The loss to MIBR then proved decisive, with the 0-2 result officially eliminating the team from the Esports World Cup. Despite the early exit, simply reaching the main tournament represented an important result for a roster that entered the event outside the elite group of teams.
MIBR bounce back after Astralis defeat
MIBR also entered the lower bracket following a difficult start to the tournament. Their opening match against Astralis ended in a 13-6 loss on Inferno, leaving the Brazilians with no margin for error. Against K27, however, MIBR responded in convincing fashion. The victory keeps their playoff hopes alive and gives the team another opportunity to recover from the opening-round setback.
MIBR make a major jump in VRS
The victory also produced a significant boost for MIBR in the Valve Regional Standings. The Brazilian side gained 46 VRS points, moving from 20th to 17th place with 1,615 points. K27 went in the opposite direction. They lost nine points and dropped two positions, from 33rd to 35th, finishing the match with 1,467 points. That makes the result particularly valuable for MIBR beyond simply staying alive at the Esports World Cup, as the team continues to improve its position in the global ranking.

MIBR celebrated the victory and immediately turned their attention to the next challenge. The Brazilian organization stressed that its Esports World Cup campaign remains alive and confirmed that Legacy will be their next opponent.

MIBR’s Esports World Cup journey will continue in the Group B deciding match against Legacy on Sunday. The winner will advance to the playoffs, while the loser will join K27 among the teams eliminated from the tournament.
For K27, the campaign ends after two losses at the main event, while MIBR remain one series away from turning a difficult start in Paris into a playoff appearance.
