ODDIK part ways with coldzera — community divided between respect and disappointment

The 30-year-old Brazilian veteran leaves the team after just three months in the roster. Brazilian organization ODDIK has officially announced the departure of legendary player Marcelo “coldzera” David. According to the team’s statement, both parties agreed to part ways “by mutual consent,” ending a short but high-profile stint that lasted only three months.

From RED Canids to ODDIK — and once again, instability

coldzera joined ODDIK in July 2025 following a one-year spell with RED Canids, where he temporarily took on the role of AWPer. In his new team, the Brazilian returned to his traditional rifler position, posting a consistent 1.11 rating across 94 maps — yet it wasn’t enough to keep the team competitive.

Despite coldzera’s efforts, ODDIK failed to break through on the regional stage. The team finished 2nd at Circuito FERJEE de Esports Finals, 3rd at FERJEE Rush, and 5th–8th at Circuit X South America Season 1. Their only international outing, Fragadelphia Fragville, ended with a 4th-place finish.

One step away from the Major — but dreams fell short

ODDIK came close to qualifying for the StarLadder Major Budapest 2025, but fell just short, losing the final Americas spot to RED Canids by only 16 Valve Regional Standings (VRS) points. The result was a painful blow for the organization — especially since coldzera’s former team surpassed his current one in the standings.

Second roster shake-up in a week

The departure of coldzera marks ODDIK’s second major roster change in a short span. Earlier, the club benched Fillipe “pancc” Martins until the end of ESL Challenger League Season 50 Cup 4, replacing him with academy player Vitor “Ceruttera” Cerutti.

coldzera himself didn’t appear in the team’s last two official matches, where he was replaced by coach Caio “CX1” Coutinho. Both games ended in losses, cutting ODDIK’s tournament run short.

Current ODDIK roster

  • João “naitte” Maia
  • Adriano “WOOD7” Cerato
  • Italo “ksloks” Meinberg
  • Caio “CX1” Coutinho (coach)

Benched: João “matios” Guedes, Victor “togs” Rapassi, Fillipe “pancc” Martins

Community reaction: “A legend who lost his compass”

The announcement of coldzera’s exit sparked a wave of emotion across the Brazilian X (Twitter) community — ranging from sarcasm and disappointment to nostalgia for his glory days.

Adans Adpool compared coldzera to Neymar:

Could Cold be to Neymar what Fallen is to CR7? Two geniuses at the end of their careers — but one is reaping the rewards of his legacy, while the other is just bringing shame.

Iago “VEX” Henrique posted ironically:

Who will be the next sucker to let Cold into their team?

Eric Amaral reflected on the sadness of the decline:

The end of coldzera’s career is very sad. It would be more honorable for him to say goodbye officially rather than keep drowning in failed projects and sinking lower and lower.

Many fans expressed regret — but also sharp criticism of his recent form.

Sérgio Rasta commented:

Finally, they ended something that should never have started. I respect everything Cold represents, but the team got worse after his arrival.

Some fans took a more humorous approach:

  • lucasx: “Hey, I’m putting a team together — we’ve got a level 12, 15, and 17. Cold, you in?”
  • kapzw: “Where’s the meme that says ‘homewrecker’?”
  • amante do molodoy: “I’ll mess up one more team and then I’m out.”

Others were far harsher:

  • Rodrigo: “He’s no upgrade for any team anymore. Legacy and RED both performed better after he left.”
  • JP: “He joined, sank, and bailed out. Same story again.”
  • Emerson Santos: “Which team will be the next victim? New episodes coming soon.”

And some comments were bluntly sarcastic:

Retire soon, dad, you’ve had enough already! — wrote Mundinho Qikert.

End of an era or one last chapter?

Once considered the best player in the world in 2016–2017, coldzera’s form has steadily declined since the golden years of SK Gaming and MIBR. Despite multiple attempts to reignite his career with FaZe, Complexity, RED Canids, and ODDIK, he never managed to recapture his former brilliance.

His latest run with ODDIK only reaffirmed that pattern — strong individual mechanics but a lack of team synergy and impact. For now, coldzera hasn’t announced retirement, but the community is split:

  • some want to see him transition into a coach or mentor role for young players,
  • others believe it’s time to “end the story with dignity.”
