PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 is edging closer to its final 16-team lineup, and the picture is now much clearer after PGL confirmed the rosters set to battle through the closed qualifiers. The tournament, scheduled for October 24-31 in Bucharest, carries a $1,250,000 prize pool, and with almost every top team already locked in for the main event, the remaining four spots are exactly what makes this stretch of the calendar worth watching.
Why does this matter so much? Because these qualifiers decide who joins an already stacked field. Twelve of the sixteen main event slots have gone to direct invites, meaning the closed qualifiers are the last realistic path for several ambitious rosters to reach a Valve-tier LAN in Romania this fall.
Setting The Stage
Earlier, PGL confirmed the main event invites, and every top squad accepted its spot except Falcons, who will not be attending. That left twelve confirmed teams for the main event: Spirit, FURIA, Vitality, MOUZ, FUT, Legacy, Natus Vincere, G2, Aurora, 9z, The MongolZ, and BETBOOM. The remaining four places are reserved for the winners of the European, South American, North American, and APAC closed qualifiers.
Before any of that, however, open qualifiers had to run their course. Those matches take place from September 3-6, handing out four spots each in the European, South American, and North American brackets, plus two spots in each of the Asian and Oceanic qualifiers. Only after these results are locked in can the closed qualifier fields be finalized.
The Closed Qualifier Lineups
PGL has already revealed the teams with direct entry into the closed stage, even while the open qualifiers continue. In Europe, the closed qualifier field includes B8, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Nuclear TigeRES, and Inner Circle. Four more teams from the European open qualifier will join them. This regional bracket runs September 9-12, and its winner claims the European berth at Bucharest.
South America follows the same September 9-12 window. ShindeN, paiN, DENDELE, and Galorys have already secured their places. Four more South American open qualifier teams will round out the field. Only the eventual winner earns the trip to Romania.
North America mirrors this structure. The region runs its closed qualifier September 9-12 as well. Chicken Coop, Liquid, NRG, and Voca have already confirmed their spots. Four teams from the North American open qualifier will complete the bracket.
Asia and Oceania follow a different rhythm. The Oceania, East Asia, and West Asia closed qualifiers run September 9-10. They feed into a final APAC closed qualifier on September 13, which decides the region’s single main event slot. FlyQuest and LFO 8 have confirmed for Oceania, and two more teams will come from that region’s open qualifier. TYLOO and 5star have locked in East Asia spots, with two open qualifier teams still to join them. DEPO and Legion represent West Asia so far, and two more spots remain open there too.
Why This Stretch Matters
This is the point where storylines start forming for fans tracking the road to Bucharest. Teams like Ninjas in Pyjamas, Liquid, NRG, and TYLOO now have a clear, dated path to a $1.25 million LAN. The closed qualifier brackets already hint at which rosters look most likely to break through. The schedule stays tight, too. Open qualifiers finish just days before the closed stage starts, so squads get almost no rest between rounds. That raises the stakes for every team trying to avoid an early exit.
As a result, the next two weeks function as a mini-tournament season of their own. They will decide four of the sixteen main event spots at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026.
