Spirit and Falcons will meet in the quarter-final of ESL Pro League Season 24 on October 9 at 18:00 CET. The teams will play a Bo3 in the single-elimination playoffs, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals and the losing team leaving the tournament.
Spirit enter the match as #1 in both the HLTV ranking and VRS, while Falcons sit #5 in HLTV and #4 in VRS. The ranking favors Spirit, but Falcons had the more stable Swiss Stage and reached the playoffs with a 3:1 record compared to 3:2 for Spirit, making this one of the closest quarter-finals on paper.
ESL PRO LEAGUE SEASON 24 — PLAYOFF CONTEXT
ESL Pro League Season 24 takes place in Katowice with 16 teams competing for a $1,000,000 prize pool. Eight teams advanced from the Swiss Stage into a single-elimination playoff bracket.
Falcons started the tournament with clean victories over TYLOO and Aurora before losing 1:2 to Vitality in the 2:0 match. They recovered in the next round by defeating NAVI 2:1 and secured a playoff spot with a 3:1 record.
Spirit had a much more difficult route. They opened with 2:1 victories over ShindeN and PARIVISION, but consecutive 0:2 losses to MOUZ and 1win dropped them into the 2:2 group. A 2:0 victory over M80 in the final Swiss round kept Spirit alive and sent them into the quarter-finals.
The playoff format leaves no room for another recovery: one loss ends the tournament for either team.
HEAD-TO-HEAD — SPIRIT WON THE MOST RECENT SERIES
Spirit and Falcons have already played five series against each other in 2026. Spirit lead those meetings 3:2 in series and 8:4 in maps.
Falcons won the first meeting at IEM Rio 2026 with a 2:0 score, but Spirit responded later at the same event with a 2:0 victory in the semi-final. Spirit then defeated Falcons 3:0 in the PGL Astana 2026 Grand Final.
Falcons answered at the IEM Cologne Major 2026, winning a close semi-final 2:1. They took Anubis 16:14 and the deciding Dust2 16:12, while Spirit won Mirage 13:8.
The most recent meeting came at BLAST Open Porto 2026 in September. Spirit won 2:0, taking Nuke 13:8 and Ancient 13:11. The overall head-to-head favors Spirit, but Falcons have already shown that they can beat them in high-pressure playoff matches.
CURRENT FORM
Falcons approach the quarter-final with three victories from four series at ESL Pro League Season 24. The team looked particularly convincing against TYLOO and Aurora, winning both matches without dropping a map, while the qualification series against NAVI ended 2:1. Their only defeat came against Vitality.
Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov has a 1.36 rating over the last three months, with 0.85 kills per round, 0.57 deaths per round, 78.1% KAST, a 1.21 multi-kill rating, +3.90% round swing and 83.3 ADR.

Spirit have been less stable in Katowice. After opening with victories over ShindeN and PARIVISION, they suffered back-to-back 0:2 defeats against MOUZ and 1win. The team recovered in the deciding Swiss match against M80, winning 2:0 to reach the playoffs.
Danil “donk” Kryshkovets remains the strongest individual player in the matchup by presented rating. Over the last three months, he has a 1.40 rating, 0.92 kills per round, 0.66 deaths per round, 75.9% KAST, a 1.46 multi-kill rating, +2.89% round swing and 93.7 ADR.
The main contrast is clear: Spirit have the stronger ranking and recent head-to-head record, while Falcons have shown more stable results during this tournament.
MAP POOL & VETO
Statistics over the last three months (Falcons | Spirit):
- Cache: 56% | 70%
- Dust2: 73% | 67%
- Mirage: 44% | 80%
- Inferno: — | 67%
- Nuke: 67% | 20%
- Ancient: 90% | 50%
- Anubis: 86% | —
Expected veto:
- Falcons are likely to remove Cache. They used Cache as the opening ban against both Vitality and NAVI during the Swiss Stage, while Spirit have a 70% win rate on the map.
- Spirit are likely to remove Inferno. They used Inferno as the first ban in each of their three most recent ESL Pro League series against MOUZ, 1win and M80.
Likely maps:
- Anubis remains a logical pick for Falcons. They selected the map against both Vitality and NAVI and have strong numbers in the presented three-month sample.
- Dust2 is one of the clearest options for Spirit. They picked it against both MOUZ and M80 during the Swiss Stage and have a 67% win rate on the map.
- Mirage could become important late in the veto. Spirit have an 80% win rate compared to 44% for Falcons, giving them a significant statistical advantage if the map remains available.
- Nuke and Ancient are more favorable directions for Falcons statistically. Falcons have 67% on Nuke against 20% for Spirit and 90% on Ancient compared to 50%.
The map pool gives both teams clear strengths. Spirit have a major advantage on Mirage and better Cache numbers, while Falcons look significantly stronger on Ancient, Nuke and Anubis.
KEY DUELS
- donk vs kyousuke — two aggressive riflers who can decide rounds through opening fights and multi-kills. donk has the stronger three-month statistics, but kyousuke gives Falcons another high-impact entry option.
- sh1ro vs m0NESY — the main AWP matchup. m0NESY enters the series with strong individual numbers, while sh1ro has repeatedly performed well against Falcons, including the most recent meeting in Porto.
- tN1R vs NiKo — an important rifle duel behind the main stars. Both players can become decisive if donk and m0NESY are limited by the opponent.
PREDICTION
Falcons have several strong arguments before the quarter-final. They had the cleaner route through the Swiss Stage, their map pool gives them clear advantages on Ancient, Nuke and Anubis, and they have already defeated Spirit in a Major semi-final this year.
Spirit, however, have won three of the five head-to-head series in 2026 and took the most recent meeting 2:0. donk also holds the strongest individual statistics in the matchup, while Mirage could become a major advantage if Falcons fail to remove it during the second phase of the veto.
The recent losses to MOUZ and 1win make Spirit difficult to trust completely, but the recovery against M80 and the favorable head-to-head record suggest they should be able to compete much closer to their normal level in the playoffs.
Falcons have enough map depth and individual firepower to take the series to a decider, but Spirit have a slight advantage based on the head-to-head, ranking and the potential impact of donk over a full Bo3.
Projected result: Spirit 2–1 Falcons
