Aurora bounced back from their opening loss to HEROIC with a confident 2-0 victory over The Huns in the 1-1 Swiss bracket at PGL Astana 2026. The Turkish-led roster looked far more composed this time around, dominating Nuke 13-4 before closing Dust2 13-3 to stay alive in the tournament.
Road through the Swiss stage
Aurora started the tournament with a disappointing 0-2 loss against HEROIC in the opening Swiss round, but immediately recovered by defeating The Huns and moving to a 1-1 record. The Turkish squad now remains alive in the race for playoffs and will continue their lower Swiss bracket run tomorrow.
Spirit, meanwhile, continue looking like one of the strongest teams in Astana. The CIS squad previously defeated The Huns 2-0 in round one before overcoming The MongolZ today, improving to a perfect 2-0 record and moving one win away from playoff qualification.
The MongolZ drop to a 1-1 record after previously defeating Magic in their opening match, while The Huns fall to 0-2 after back-to-back losses against Spirit and Aurora.
Aurora shut down The Huns on every map

The series began on Nuke — The Huns’ own map pick — but Aurora immediately took over the game. Wicadia and MAJ3R constantly punished rotations around ramp and outside control, while woxic found opening picks almost every gun round. Aurora quickly built a massive lead and never allowed the Mongolian side back into the map, closing Nuke 13-4 with complete dominance.
Dust2 followed a similar pattern. Aurora’s T side looked far more fluid than in previous matches, with XANTARES and Wicadia repeatedly breaking through mid and B defenses. The Huns struggled heavily in retake situations and could not deal with Aurora’s pace throughout the map. Despite a few aggressive attempts from sk0R, Aurora maintained full control and secured the sweep with a one-sided 13-3 victory.

Wicadia leads the way

Ali “Wicadia” Haydar Yalçın delivered his best performance of the tournament so far and became the clear difference-maker in the series. The young rifler finished the match with a 1.71 rating, 98.6 ADR and a +21 K-D difference, constantly creating space and winning key opening duels. MAJ3R also had a strong impact throughout the match with a 1.51 rating, while woxic provided stable AWP control across both maps.
For The Huns, only sk0R managed to finish with a positive individual impact, while the rest of the roster struggled heavily against Aurora’s tempo.
Spirit overpower The MongolZ in battle of 1-0 teams

In the second featured match of the day, Team Spirit defeated The MongolZ 2-0 and secured a perfect 2-0 Swiss record at PGL Astana 2026. Despite a competitive first map, Spirit ultimately proved too strong individually and tactically, winning Dust2 13-11 before surviving a chaotic overtime battle on Ancient with a 19-16 finish. The matchup was considered one of the most anticipated series of the Swiss stage, especially after both teams opened the tournament with convincing victories on day one.

donk once again dominates the server

Danil “donk” Kryshkovets once again became the centerpiece of Spirit’s victory. The superstar rifler completely took over several critical rounds on both maps and finished the series with a monstrous 1.69 rating and 104.6 ADR.
Dust2 remained close for most of the game, with 910 keeping The MongolZ competitive through aggressive entries and impactful multi-kill rounds. However, Spirit’s superior late-round structure ultimately made the difference.
Ancient turned into a marathon battle that required overtime, but Spirit completely outclassed their opponents once extra rounds began. sh1ro and donk repeatedly shut down mid control attempts, while zont1x delivered several crucial anchor holds to close the map 19-16.
For The MongolZ, 910 remained the brightest player with a strong 1.39 rating despite the defeat.
VRS impact
The results also brought important changes to the Valve Regional Standings:
- Spirit: +37 points → rise to #3
- Aurora: +13 points → rise to #10
- The MongolZ: -11 points → fall to #6
- The Huns: -1 point → remain #79
With the Swiss stage becoming increasingly competitive, every remaining match in Astana could significantly affect future invites and Major positioning.
