Investigation conducted by tournament officials
DFRAG confirmed that a full investigation was carried out following the report. According to the organizers, the review included:
- communication with both players involved
- analysis of security camera footage
- examination of event media recordings
After evaluating the available evidence, tournament officials concluded that disciplinary action was necessary.
Six-month ban issued

As a result of the investigation, Matthew “Texta” O’Rourke has been banned from all DFRAG-operated and partner tournaments for six months. The suspension took effect on March 14, 2026, and will remain in place until September 14, 2026. DFRAG emphasized that the organization maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward physical aggression and violence during its events.
Emergency substitute allowed
Due to the unexpected circumstances, tournament officials allowed Mindfreak to continue competing in the event with a replacement. The team’s coach, Tyler “tucks” Reilly, was permitted to step in as an emergency substitute for the remainder of the DFRAG Wildcard LAN and the upcoming ANZC Locals Brisbane 2026 event. The decision ensured that the team could continue participating despite losing a player during the tournament.
A rare incident in Counter-Strike LAN events
Physical altercations between professional players are extremely rare in modern Counter-Strike tournaments, where strict codes of conduct are enforced by organizers. The incident at DFRAG Wildcard Season 1 has therefore drawn attention across the regional CS scene, with many expecting the case to serve as a reminder of the professional standards required at LAN competitions.
