How broky’s problems are putting FaZe’s Major spot in danger

Not long ago, FaZe stood on the grandest stage of Counter-Strike as Major finalists, a team synonymous with resilience and championship pedigree. But in the span of a single season, that aura has all but evaporated. The roster that once thrived in chaos now looks disjointed, inconsistent, and alarmingly out of form. What exactly went wrong with FaZe?

The Worst Team in the Top 20

FaZe may hold a current world rank of 14, but they are the absolute worst team in the top 20 right now. Since the beginning of this year, FaZe has had the worst round win percentage of any team. And while it has simply been a disaster everywhere, some things have stood out more than others. For instance, the biggest struggle for FaZe has been getting opening kills on the T-side.

When it comes to T-side openings, jcobbb and karrigan have been on the forefront for FaZe, accounting for a combined percentage of close to 60%. And if you talk about their success rate, it has been 36% and 24% respectively. This is clearly a problem, because more often than not these players have not been able to get a successful opening. And if they die, well, FaZe only has a 27% chance of converting the round.

Now, I agree that FaZe has not, at least not in a long time, been a team that is heavy on openings. What I mean by that is that they have mostly been a clutch team. Rather than being a team that gets clean entries and closes all hopes of winning the round for the opponent, they have been a team that creates chaos, concedes a few entry deaths, but sets the rest of the team up for success. But that 27% chance of converting a 4v5 clearly shows that this has not been the case recently.

broky’s performance has been holding back FaZe

When you see a team struggling in all aspects, it probably isn’t just a system issue. Maybe it is a player issue as well. And yes, it’s true. The same team that reached the Major finals is now fighting at the bottom of the top 20. And a big reason for that has been because of the performance of broky.

This year so far, broky sits at a rating of 0.92. Then when you break the stats further, it becomes even more disappointing. On the CT-side, only frozen has a 1.18 rating, and then the difference drops to Twistzz next with a 1.00 rating. And even in this mess, broky sits at the bottom with a rating of 0.90.

CT-side stats for FaZe in 2026:

Player Maps Rounds K-D Diff K/D Rating 3.0
frozen 30 304 +48 1.25 1.18
Twistzz 30 304 +6 1.03 1.00
jcobbb 30 304 +5 1.03 0.95
karrigan 30 304 -28 0.87 0.92
broky 30 304 +21 1.11 0.90

For an AWPer, these stats are simply underwhelming. If your AWPer cannot hold down angles on the CT-side and punish the Ts, it puts up a lot of pressure on the rest of the team. FaZe’s most played maps: Mirage, Dust2, Nuke, are all known to be benefitting for the AWPers. Yet, to produce stats like this; it becomes clear that he has fallen drastically, and it is about time FaZe looks for a fresh pair of hands to wield the big green.

And when it comes to the T-sides, the story is no different. broky’s rating of 0.95 has not been the saving grace at all for FaZe. And these are the stats when he is not even the entry fragger, and has the lowest opening attempt percentage of around 9% this year. It means, not only is he super passive, contributing almost nothing ot opening duels, but has also not been able to show up with clutches, or trades, as we already saw.

Usually, AWPers don’t boast a high percent of opening attempts. They’d usually go for picks when they have a good spawn, and are most of the times set up for success by the rest of the team. But despite all that, broky only has a success rate of a little over 53%. broky’s presence on the server has been almost negligible, with most of his kills being a few trade kills that have amounted to nothing in context of round wins.

T-side stats for FaZe in 2026:

Player Maps Rounds K-D Diff K/D Rating 3.0
frozen 30 311 -39 0.83 1.03
Twistzz 30 311 -44 0.82 1.02
broky 30 311 -40 0.83 0.95
jcobbb 30 311 -93 0.63 0.87
karrigan 30 311 -93 0.63 0.78

A Broken Map Pool

Their map pool is atrocious. Imagine being a Major finalist, and the next season you play you have a win rate of 20% on your first pick. That is FaZe on Mirage this year. According to that 20% win rate, FaZe has losses to EYEBALLERS, MOUZ, Astralis, and paiN. What’s more unbelievable is that all these losses have been single digits, with three out of the four being 5 or 4 round wins for FaZe. They only have a single win, yes a single win this year on their map pick, against PARIVISION.

Dust2 has been a strong map for them, but that’s about it. On Overpass they do have 2 wins out of 3, but anyone who has followed FaZe for a while knows that it isn’t their favourite map to play. Then on Nuke it’s a 50-50 win ratio. Ancient and Inferno have been a disasterclass, and FaZe haven’t even thought much about playing Anubis without ropz. These are some underwhelming stats for a team of FaZe’s calibre, and they will need to work on maps like Inferno and Ancientmore. But to work on something you need to figure out the issues, which have been quite apparent.

Trading and T-Side Issues

And if those things don’t work, any good team should have a base to fall back on. For FaZe, that could have been trading players, but that is another area where they are marked red. Out of all the top 20 teams, they have the second lowest traded percentage of 18.3%.

And if you have seen their T-side in official games lately, it has been simply awful. Players taking duels alone around the map, with no trade potential, relying solely on heroics to get them across. And well, it’s CS2, not a fairytale. You don’t win rounds on hopes of a miracle, you have to work for it. But the chemistry is simply not there.

On CT-sides, the gap between FaZe and other top teams is smaller, but it still doesn’t make them any good. They are still the worst team when it comes to opening kills and multi-kills, two of the most important stats that make the most difference. In the rest, they are in the bottom four.

FaZe paying the price for not replacing broky

After a disastrous season last year, karrigan’s choice to keep broky has clearly resuted in a calamity for FaZe. He may have played well right after coming back to FaZe, but gradually, fell into the same slump that got him benched earlier. The decision to overlook that has resulted in a scenario where FaZe are on the verge of falling out of the Major race.

If they exit BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026 in the same fashion they exited ESL Pro League, they are likely to not qualify for the Major. It has come to a point that a prestigious org like FaZe has to participate in tier-2 tournamentes like DracuLan. If the team had made a change after the season, things would not have become so dire for FaZe.

They had the chance to sign someone like s1mple, who has visibly shown a lot of interest in playing in the team. Or degster, who has been on the bench. Or maybe even someone like phzy, or a young tier-2 talent that they could have shaped with time. But it has become too late now due to VRS points, and the decision might come at a cost of a Major qualification.
