Asia has long been known for its supremacy in Dota 2 and League of Legends, but the region has had difficulty making an impression in the Counter-Strike scene. The reasons are obvious: very few players choose to focus on CS2 due to the immense popularity of Dota 2 and League of Legends. In addition, European teams have a two-decade advantage and a depth of knowledge and comprehension of the game that is hard to match in a short amount of time.
But since early 2023, The MongolZ have been assiduously practicing and participating in S-tier CS2 competitions. Their recent success is a testament to their hard work and determination, as they have triumphed in numerous A-tier and B-tier events throughout their journey.

The MongolZ’s tournament journey started in Group A, where they took on strong opponents like ENCE, HEROIC, NiP, and Astralis. Although these teams seemed more formidable on paper, The MongolZ proved they were in Abu Dhabi on a mission. They went 4-1 in the group stage, with their lone loss coming to Astralis. They advanced to the semifinals thanks to their win over NiP, which gave them 12 points and the top spot in the group.
Astralis and The MongolZ rematch in the semifinals. They were more prepared this time, and on the third map, Ancient, the match came down to the wire. The Danish team had the early advantage, but The MongolZ took advantage of their errors to win 22–19.
There was an exciting matchup with NiP in the Grand Final. The MongolZ struck back to win the next two maps, 13-7 and 13-6, despite NiP winning the first one 16-12. Their resiliency and tactical skill were highlighted by this comeback win, which led to a well-earned victory.
