FURIA rifler Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis admitted that fatigue and communication mistakes contributed to the team’s elimination from IEM Beijing 2026. Speaking during an interview with the official ESL broadcast after the quarterfinal defeat against BetBoom, the Latvian player explained that FURIA struggled to execute several important rounds and failed to capitalize on opportunities throughout the series.
FURIA lost 1:2 to BetBoom on November 6, ending their tournament run in 5th–6th place. The defeat came after a demanding schedule that included championship victories at Thunderpick World Championship 2026 and PGL Masters Bucharest 2026.
YEKINDAR admits fatigue affected FURIA
According to YEKINDAR, the team entered the match feeling tired and struggled to maintain their usual level of communication and execution. He acknowledged that several situations could have gone differently but said mistakes were a normal part of Counter-Strike.
I feel like we came to the game a little bit too sleepy, making too many mistakes.
The rifler suggested that fatigue was one of the reasons behind the performance, pointing to communication problems and mistakes with utility usage. He also emphasized that Counter-Strike often depends on momentum, with individual rounds capable of changing the outcome of a series.
FURIA had played three consecutive tournaments in recent weeks, reaching the Grand Final at both Thunderpick World Championship and PGL Masters Bucharest before traveling to China for IEM Beijing.
FURIA fail to complete comeback against BetBoom
FURIA opened the quarterfinal series with a 5:13 defeat on Ancient but recovered on Dust2, securing a 13:10 victory to force a deciding map.
On Nuke, BetBoom established a 12:7 lead and reached match point, but FURIA recovered with five consecutive rounds to force overtime. Despite briefly taking the lead, the Brazilian team eventually lost 14:16, ending their tournament campaign.
YEKINDAR finished the series with 55 kills, 54 deaths and a 1.14 Rating 3.0, making him the highest-rated FURIA player. However, Aleksandr “zorte” Zagodyrenko led BetBoom to victory with a 1.35 rating and 62–36 K–D.
The result marked the first BetBoom victory over FURIA in six meetings during 2026. It also prevented the Brazilian team from securing a third consecutive tournament title.
FURIA prepare for their final tournament before the Major
Following the elimination, FURIA will travel to Hong Kong for BLAST Rivals 2026 Season 2, where they are scheduled to face Legacy in their opening match. The tournament will be their final scheduled competition before PGL Major Singapore 2026.
Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo also published a message after the defeat, reflecting on his connection with China and confirming that IEM Beijing was his final tournament in the Intel Extreme Masters series. The Brazilian captain thanked local fans for their support and emphasized that his competitive journey is not yet over.
For FURIA, the focus now shifts toward recovering from the demanding tournament schedule and preparing for their remaining events of the season. The team enter BLAST Rivals after winning two titles in October but falling short of another semifinal appearance in Beijing.
