WeiJie “zhokiNg” Zhong spoke about TYLOO problems, the limited player pool in China and possible roster changes in an interview with HLTV after FISSURE Playground 3. The coach admitted that the team did not meet expectations in Suzhou and believes some players may feel too secure because there are few realistic replacements available.

TYLOO DID NOT REACH THE LEVEL THEY EXPECTED

TYLOO finished FISSURE Playground 3 in 9th–12th place after losses to Alliance and PARIVISION. According to zhokiNg, the goal was to reach the playoffs, but the team failed to show its expected level.

I personally am not very satisfied with the result because our goal was actually to make it to the playoffs, but we didn’t meet this expectation. And the whole process, I also feel the players didn’t perform to the level they should have. There were also a lot of mistakes we made as players, and we weren’t in form in some situations.

The coach also pointed to the loss against Alliance, where TYLOO let an 11:3 lead slip away. He said the team became too relaxed and made mistakes both in execution and in mid-round situations.

LIMITED PLAYER POOL CAN CREATE A SENSE OF SECURITY

One of the most interesting topics was the lack of roster changes. Four TYLOO players besides Zero have remained together for more than two years, which is unusual for a Counter-Strike roster.

zhokiNg explained that the limited number of available players in China is one of the main reasons.

In China, the player pool is indeed too small. And this might also make the players in our team now have a sense of security, feeling like they won’t be replaced so easily, leading them to actually not particularly make efforts to break out of their comfort zone to improve themselves.

According to the coach, TYLOO do not have a strict threshold that automatically leads to roster changes. Results matter, but understanding the real reasons behind defeats is more important.

There’s not a really clear bar with roster changes, or the kind of requirement that we have. But in general, results definitely contribute to this. We need to make sure that we can find the real causes of our failures or of our results, and make sure that it’s not always repeating, and we are trying to solve our problems.

TYLOO ARE STILL BEHIND TOP TEAMS IN MID-ROUND PLAY

zhokiNg also explained what separates TYLOO from the strongest teams in the world. He highlighted information processing, clutch situations and the ability to adapt during rounds rather than mechanics alone.

The biggest problem of the team is the individual comprehensive ability is not high, and the ability to process information about things happening on the field is not fast enough. It’s not only in the mechanics, it’s also the game sense and the ability to adapt to different situations, and to process different information in a live match.

ATTACKER HAS A DISCIPLINARY ROLE

YuanZhang “Attacker” Sheng recently joined the TYLOO coaching staff. zhokiNg explained that his responsibilities are focused on discipline and keeping the players concentrated during preparation.

In usual prep times, Attacker’s role is more like disciplinary. He tries to make sure everyone’s on point and focused on our work. And also when it comes to officials, he also has some role in our preparation.

TYLOO now leave FISSURE Playground 3 without reaching the playoffs, while the coaching staff will continue working on the issues zhokiNg identified during the event.
