The Swiss round of FISSURE Playground 2 featured a decisive clash between the Chinese squad TYLOO and North America’s Team Liquid. Both teams entered the series with a 1-2 record, and the stakes couldn’t have been higher: the winner would stay alive in the race for the playoffs, while the loser would be eliminated. In a dramatic three-map battle, Liquid came out on top with a 2-1 victory, sending TYLOO home from London.

Teams’ path at the tournament

  • Liquid: opened the tournament with a loss to FURIA (1-2), bounced back with a win against Heroic (2-1), but suffered a crushing defeat to GamerLegion (0-2). The match against TYLOO was crucial for their survival.
  • TYLOO: started strong with a 2-0 win over GamerLegion, but things quickly went downhill — losses to The MongolZ (1-2), Aurora (0-2), and finally Liquid (1-2) ended their run.

Match chronology

  • Ancient (13:10, Liquid’s pick)

Liquid began the series on their map pick but immediately ran into trouble, trailing 4–8 at halftime. TYLOO’s aggression, led by JamYoung and Jee, gave them the edge early on. However, after switching sides, Liquid took control. Ultimate and NertZ delivered crucial frags, while Twistzz closed out key clutches. A dominant 9–2 run secured Liquid a 13:10 win.

  • Inferno (13:9, TYLOO’s pick)

On their strongest map, TYLOO looked confident and disciplined. Mercury was flawless with the AWP, and Moseyuh provided consistency in trades. Liquid tried to respond through NAF’s aggression and Twistzz’s impact, but TYLOO were calmer in critical moments, taking the map 13:9 to level the series.

  • Mirage (13:8, decider)

Everything was decided on Mirage, where Liquid showed their true class. Ultimate once again led the charge, dominating duels in mid. NertZ locked down the A site, while NAF provided stability in defense. TYLOO tried to spark a comeback through individual plays from Moseyuh, but Liquid’s team structure proved superior. The North Americans closed it out 13:8, sealing the 2:1 series victory.

Player stats

Match Best Player

The hero of the series was Roland “ultimate” Tomkowiak, who played confidently across all three maps and became the key factor in Liquid’s success.

  • K-D: 49–40 (+9)
  • ADR: 74.7
  • Rating 3.0: 1.33

Ultimate not only put up solid numbers but also created crucial space in mid, enabling his teammates to shine. His composure in high-pressure moments allowed Liquid to avoid slip-ups and secure the win. His consistent performance was the foundation of Liquid’s triumph.

Team performance analysis

Liquid: The North Americans showed a more structured and disciplined game than in earlier rounds. Twistzz (52–45, 1.23 rating) remained a clutch anchor, NertZ (1.23) finally hit top form, while NAF added stability on defense. Siuhy, despite modest stats (0.96), played a crucial role as in-game leader, keeping the team composed and tactically sharp. Liquid looked like a roster finally finding its rhythm.

TYLOO: The Chinese squad once again shone on Inferno, with Moseyuh (51–49, 1.20 rating) and Mercury (46–44, 1.16) carrying the team. However, inconsistency across the rest of the roster proved fatal. JamYoung and Attacker couldn’t find their stride, and Jee (0.86) had one of his weakest series of the event. TYLOO fought hard but faltered in decisive rounds, costing them the series.

Team Liquid defeated TYLOO 2-1 to keep their playoff hopes alive at FISSURE Playground 2. The North Americans finally showed the teamwork fans expect and proved they can perform under pressure.

For TYLOO, this series marked the end of their tournament run. While the team showed flashes of potential, inconsistency and overreliance on individual plays once again left them short of major achievements. Liquid march on in London, while TYLOO bow out with lessons to learn ahead of their next international challenges.
