The organizers of the DFRAG Wildcard LAN tournament have issued a disciplinary decision following an incident that occurred during the lower bracket of the event. Mindfreak player Matthew “Texta” O’Rourke has received a six-month ban for violating conduct rules.

Background

LAN tournaments are traditionally considered the most intense events in esports, as matches are played offline and player emotions often run higher than in typical online games. For this reason, organizers of major tournaments pay special attention to disciplinary rules and participant safety.

The DFRAG Wildcard LAN organizer also follows a strict policy regarding physical aggression and behavioral violations during competitions. This policy became the key factor in the decision regarding the Mindfreak player.

What happened at the tournament

The incident occurred on March 14 after the first map of the lower bracket match between Mindfreak and Ground Zero.

According to the organizers, the situation arose between Matthew “Texta” O’Rourke and one of the Ground Zero players. The incident was initially recorded by a member of the DFRAG media group, after which a full investigation was launched.

The organizers reported that during the investigation they used:

  2. broadcast and media video footage
  3. communication with both sides of the conflict

After analyzing the evidence, a disciplinary decision was made.

Organizers’ decision

Following the investigation, Matthew “Texta” O’Rourke received a ban from all tournaments organized or supported by DFRAG for a period of six months.

The punishment came into effect on March 14, 2026, and will end on September 14, 2026.

The organizers also allowed the Mindfreak team to use Tyler “tucks” Reilly as an emergency substitute until the end of the DFRAG Wildcard LAN tournament and the regional ANZC Locals Brisbane 2026 competitions.

In addition, it became known that the player also received an identical six-month suspension from Launders LAN tournaments.

The six-month ban for Matthew “Texta” O’Rourke means the player will miss a significant portion of the 2026 tournament calendar, which could significantly affect Mindfreak’s future performances.
