Valve has released a major 5.1 GB update for Counter-Strike 2, bringing back one of the most iconic maps in the game’s history — Cache. After years away from the active map pool, the fan-favorite battleground is finally playable again, now fully rebuilt for the Source 2 era with updated visuals, lighting, and small layout refinements while preserving its classic structure.

Cache was removed from Active Duty back in 2019 and later disappeared from the main competitive spotlight. For many players, the map is remembered for its fast-paced mid control, aggressive A-site fights around Forklift, and of course one of the most legendary moments in Counter-Strike history — Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev’s famous falling AWP no-scope during ESL One Cologne 2016. While Valve has now brought Cache back, the iconic Ukrainian graffiti tied to that highlight was not included in the update.

At the moment, Cache has been added to Competitive, Casual, Deathmatch, and Retakes, but Valve has not confirmed whether it will enter the Active Duty pool or which map it could potentially replace. For now, players can simply return to the server and relearn classic angles, timings, and utility setups. Dust II also received a notable adjustment. Valve reopened the Mid Box (better known as Xbox), restoring a previously removed jump spot that had once been intentionally blocked. This change brings back an old movement option many players used for early mid control and catwalk access.

Other updates include collision fixes on Office, fresh Workshop versions for Stronghold and Poseidon, small AnimGraph 2 viewmodel corrections, and sound fixes involving C4 pullout audio and death music interactions. Valve also fixed several gameplay bugs, including a rare issue where players could end up without a weapon after requesting a hand switch following a grenade throw.
