FACEIT introduces AI-powered Human Input Detection to fight next-generation CS2 cheats

FACEIT has officially unveiled Human Input Detection, a new machine-learning layer for its Anti-Cheat that identifies cheaters by how they play instead of the software running on their PC. The feature launches on August 5 alongside Season 9 and targets AI-powered and DMA cheats that have become increasingly difficult to detect with traditional methods. The announcement immediately sparked discussion across the Counter-Strike community. While many praised the technology, others questioned privacy, false positives, and support for unconventional playstyles.

Traditional anti-cheat systems search for known cheat signatures or suspicious software. Human Input Detection takes a different approach. The new system analyzes a player’s in-game inputs in real time. FACEIT trained the model on millions of matches and gameplay from the highest-ranked Counter-Strike players. As a result, it can distinguish genuine human input from machine-generated actions.

Instead of checking whether cheat software is running, the system evaluates whether the actions performed during a match are realistically possible for a human. When gameplay appears statistically impossible, Human Input Detection adds another signal to FACEIT’s Anti-Cheat. According to the company, this method can identify completely new cheat types, including software that has never been detected before.

Built to stop AI and DMA cheats

FACEIT stressed that Human Input Detection does not replace the existing kernel-level Anti-Cheat. Instead, it works alongside the current protection.

The company says its kernel-level Anti-Cheat already catches a wide range of cheats, including AI-assisted software and DMA devices. These methods accounted for roughly 40% of all cheating bans in May 2026.

Human Input Detection focuses on advanced cheats that imitate legitimate player behavior. During internal testing, FACEIT reported especially strong results against AI-assisted cheats, which continue to grow across competitive Counter-Strike.

No instant bans

FACEIT also clarified how the enforcement process works.

The system does not automatically ban players after detecting suspicious behavior. Instead, it contributes another signal that integrity systems evaluate together with existing Anti-Cheat data. FACEIT only issues bans after reaching a high confidence level.

The company also delays some ban waves on purpose. This strategy prevents cheat developers from quickly identifying what triggered the detection and updating their software.

No installation or FPS impact

Players will not need to install new software or enable additional settings.

Human Input Detection runs inside the existing FACEIT Anti-Cheat when Season 9 begins on August 5. According to FACEIT, the update has no noticeable impact on FPS or overall game performance.

Privacy and accessibility

FACEIT also addressed concerns about privacy.

The company says Human Input Detection only reads in-game inputs inside the game window. It does not collect data from outside Counter-Strike. FACEIT encrypts the collected input data and does not retain it after the player leaves the game.

The company also confirmed that accessibility devices and non-standard controllers should not trigger bans. The system recognizes legitimate alternative input methods and never relies on a single signal before taking action.

Community welcomes the announcement

The announcement received mostly positive reactions from well-known Counter-Strike personalities.

Content creator Thour said he hopes Valve “learns something” from FACEIT’s approach. RecheDeD called the technology “huge” and praised the work behind it. Many other players described the system as an important step in the fight against AI-assisted cheating.

However, some users remained cautious. Several questioned whether the model could reliably separate exceptional mechanical skill from artificial input. Others asked whether unusual aiming styles, accessibility hardware, or radar cheats could create problems.

FACEIT replied that the system has undergone extensive testing and will roll out gradually after August 5. The company also confirmed that players can appeal every enforcement decision through the standard Anti-Cheat review process.

What Human Input Detection means for CS2

Human Input Detection represents one of the biggest FACEIT Anti-Cheat upgrades in recent years. Instead of focusing only on cheat software, the platform now evaluates player behavior with machine learning.

If the technology performs as FACEIT expects, it could become one of the most significant advances against AI-assisted cheating in Counter-Strike 2. It may also influence how future competitive anti-cheat systems are designed across the esports industry.
