Legacy became one of the biggest surprises of IEM Atlanta 2026 after defeating Natus Vincere in a dramatic three-map upper bracket final to secure a direct semi-final spot. At the same time, GamerLegion completely outplayed Astralis in the lower bracket and eliminated the Danish roster from the tournament with a dominant 2-0 victory. Both matches significantly reshaped the playoff picture heading into the final stages of the event.

Road through the tournament

GamerLegion continue their impressive lower-bracket run after previously eliminating Liquid and defeating SINNERS earlier in the tournament. The victory over Astralis now sends them into the IEM Atlanta 2026 quarter-finals with growing momentum.

Astralis, meanwhile, exit the tournament after wins against Liquid and SINNERS but back-to-back losses against Legacy and GamerLegion.

Legacy remain one of the biggest surprises of the event. The Brazilian squad already eliminated M80 and Astralis earlier in the bracket before defeating NAVI to secure a direct semi-final spot.

NAVI previously defeated Passion UA and GamerLegion during the group stage, but the loss against Legacy now forces them into the playoff quarter-finals instead of a direct semi-final qualification.

The series opened on Mirage — GamerLegion’s map pick — and quickly turned into a nightmare for Astralis. Oldřich “PR” Nový delivered an outstanding CT-side performance with constant multi-kill rounds around connector and A site, while Sebastian “Tauson” Lindelof repeatedly shut down Astralis’ mid-round executions. GamerLegion built momentum early and comfortably closed Mirage 13-3.

Ancient looked slightly more competitive at the start, but Astralis once again struggled heavily on the T side. PR and Milan “hypex” Polowiec constantly punished late-round rotations, while REZ provided several important anchor holds on B. Astralis never fully recovered after losing key economy rounds, and GamerLegion secured the sweep with a 13-8 finish.

Oldřich “PR” Nový became the clear MVP of the series with a massive 1.75 rating and 101.9 ADR across two maps. The Czech rifler consistently opened rounds for GamerLegion and completely overwhelmed Astralis’ defensive setups.

hypex and Tauson also had strong supporting performances, while for Astralis only Victor “Staehr” Staehr managed to maintain stable impact throughout the series.

The defeat marks another disappointing playoff exit for Astralis, whose inconsistency continues to raise questions despite recent roster adjustments.

The series started on Inferno, where Legacy immediately looked comfortable on their own map pick. Eduardo “dumau” Volkmer and Bruno “latto” Rebello constantly pressured NAVI’s defensive positions, helping Legacy edge out a close 13-11 victory.

NAVI responded strongly on Ancient. Valeriy “b1t” Vakhovskiy and Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov controlled the pace of the game from the beginning, while makazze delivered several impactful mid-round entries. NAVI comfortably equalized the series with a 13-8 win.

Dust2 ultimately became the decider, and Legacy once again proved stronger in key moments. Andrei “arT” Piovezan created chaos with aggressive openings, while latto repeatedly punished NAVI’s rotations during late-round executes. Despite several comeback attempts from w0nderful, Legacy maintained control and closed the map 13-6.
