PARIVISION began IEM Beijing 2026 with a hard-fought victory over G2, but for dastan, the match was important for more than just the result. The coach admitted that he had seriously reconsidered his behavior following recent tournaments and is now trying not to project negative emotions onto the team.

dastan is working on controlling his emotions

According to dastan, after the first map against G2, he consciously controlled his reactions to mistakes and tried to communicate with the players differently. The coach acknowledged that his bad mood had previously affected the atmosphere within the roster.

I’ve been working on myself to avoid showing a bad mood. After the first map, I controlled myself and started speaking differently. I know it’s sometimes difficult, and I hope this approach will help my team perform better.

However, dastan does not believe that simply changing his attitude is enough. Correcting mistakes and winning remain his main priorities, as a series of disappointing results can negatively affect the team’s atmosphere regardless.

A conversation after Belgrade became the turning point

The main reason for these changes was what happened after the tournament in Belgrade. dastan explained that accumulated tension and emotions following qualification for the Major had reached a point where he could no longer properly control himself during the final.

After Belgrade, we had a serious conversation, and I realized I needed to change my approach. Now I have FL1T, HObbit, and Jame — three experienced players with whom I can share some of the responsibility.

This factor significantly distinguishes the current PARIVISION from previous versions of the team. In the past, the coach had to exercise much greater control over younger players, whereas now the roster’s veterans can take on some of the responsibility for discipline and internal communication.

Experience has changed PARIVISION’s internal structure

dastan specifically highlighted HObbit, FL1T, and Jame. According to him, practically every player can now independently explain what is happening on the map, and the team generally understands situations better without constant intervention from the coach.

I feel that now everyone on the team can speak up, explain what’s happening around them, and we understand the game better. Maybe we’ve lost a little in pure firepower on the T side, but we can play better in the future.

For PARIVISION, this could be an important step toward consistency. The team have already demonstrated that they can deliver strong Counter-Strike in decisive matches, but their main challenge has been maintaining that level from one tournament to the next.

Why dastan uses timeouts so early

The match against G2 revealed another characteristic of dastan’s coaching: he used tactical timeouts very actively at the beginning of maps. On Dust2, PARIVISION had already used all their available timeouts by the time the score reached 6:2, while on Ancient, they used them all within the first six rounds.

If I see something going wrong, I try to control the beginning because pistol rounds and early rounds have a huge impact on the result. I simply call a timeout whenever I feel it’s necessary.

Even when G2 began mounting a comeback on Ancient, dastan did not regret using those timeouts. In his opinion, after building a 10:2 lead, the players should be able to close out the map themselves and take responsibility for finishing the match.

The main goal is consistency, not trophies

At the same time, dastan described the main objective of the current roster in a rather unusual way. The coach did not insist that winning major tournaments was essential, instead prioritizing PARIVISION’s consistency at the tier-1 level.

My goal with this team isn’t to win tournaments. If we win, that would be great, but if we become more consistent and get closer to the top 10, that would already be a good result for me.

For dastan, it is important that the team regularly compete at major tournaments and gain experience in different situations. He believes that consistently competing among the strongest teams should gradually make PARIVISION more mature and predictable in a positive sense.

PARIVISION want to eliminate their inconsistency

The coach also acknowledged a long-standing problem with his teams: their ability to produce strong Counter-Strike in the most important matches while performing inconsistently at regular tournaments. He recalled that similar situations had occurred during his time with AVANGAR and Virtus.pro.

Historically, we’ve always been able to play good Counter-Strike when it came to Majors or very important matches. But at regular tournaments, we often played worse and couldn’t consistently reach the playoffs. I hope that with this roster, we’ll be able to make deeper runs.

The victory over G2 was only the first step in that direction. PARIVISION’s main objective now is not to achieve a single impressive result, but to turn strong individual performances into a consistent level of play throughout the entire season.
