The European team GamerLegion made a bold move by signing the little-known French AWPer Jeremy “Kursy” Gast. A new HLTV feature highlights the player’s journey from tier-3 to tier-1 Counter-Strike, his adaptation to structured team play, and the organization’s strong belief in his future.
Stepping Out of the Shadows
Just a few months ago, Kursy was competing only at local French tournaments — now he’s preparing for IEM Cologne. GamerLegion picked him up after failing to qualify for the Austin Major, seeking a fresh force for the AWP role. Despite the pressure and lack of top-tier experience, he helped the team top their group in his debut event.
Kursy became more noticeable thanks to his performances with GenOne and a brief stint at the Gucci Academy. His breakthrough came quickly: within two weeks in the summer of 2025, he received several offers and ultimately chose GamerLegion, citing the team’s youth, ambition, and shared values. He immediately felt a strong connection with the squad’s atmosphere and collective drive.
Adjusting to the New Level
Despite a solid start, Kursy has yet to unlock his full potential. In the quarter-final against BetBoom, he underperformed, but head coach ash insists it’s only the beginning. The rookie is still adjusting to the system and information load, and the organization views his development as a long-term investment.
According to ash, Kursy had never played in a structured environment with defined roles and systems before. Early on, he often relied on written notes and asked for guidance, but match by match, his confidence and understanding are growing. The team is willing to give him the time he needs to find his rhythm.
Motivation and Team Confidence
Captain ztr compared Kursy’s style to that of an aggressive ZywOo, emphasizing his high skill ceiling. The player himself doesn’t romanticize his sudden rise: “This isn’t a dream — it’s my standard,” he says. Kursy isn’t just aiming to stay in tier-1 — he wants to belong there.
Despite modest stage results so far, Kursy sees this as only the beginning. His goal is to master team systems quickly so he can focus fully on his own performance.
