PGL Major Singapore 2026 will become the first Counter-Strike Major in history to be played entirely on OLED monitors. PGL selected the new ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace, which offers a 720Hz refresh rate and is designed specifically for competitive esports.
The move marks a major change for professional Counter-Strike, where high-refresh-rate TN displays have traditionally dominated tournament setups.
Singapore Major moves Counter-Strike to OLED
The ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace is a 24.5-inch 1920×1080 monitor built around a TrueBlack Glossy Tandem WOLED panel. The display offers a 720Hz refresh rate and a claimed response time of 0.02 ms.
ASUS also developed the monitor using feedback from professional players. The model includes features designed to make tournament setups more consistent, allowing players to reproduce preferred monitor positions and display settings when moving between different stages and venues.
For competitive Counter-Strike, however, the biggest change is the panel itself. PGL Major Singapore 2026 will be the first Major where OLED replaces the display technology traditionally associated with top-level CS.
Counter-Strike moves beyond traditional TN monitors
Fast TN monitors have remained one of the standard choices in professional Counter-Strike because of high refresh rates and low response times.
At PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, for example, players competed on 24.5-inch ZOWIE XL2566K monitors with a 360Hz refresh rate and Fast TN panels.
Singapore will therefore represent a significant technical jump. The refresh rate will increase from 360Hz in that comparison to 720Hz, while PGL will also move from TN to OLED for the first time at a Counter-Strike Major.
The decision could also be an important test for OLED technology in professional CS, where competitive players have traditionally prioritized motion clarity, response time and consistency over image quality.
PGL calls Singapore a “Major of firsts”
PGL CEO Silviu Stroie highlighted the historical significance of the tournament when discussing the partnership with ASUS.
A stage this historic deserves a display to match, and ROG delivered it. Together, we are giving players and fans a Major of firsts.
Singapore will already be a landmark event before the monitor change is taken into account. It will be the first Counter-Strike Major held in Southeast Asia, giving PGL another technological first with the introduction of OLED displays.
The new monitor was also built with direct feedback from professional players, with ASUS focusing on features intended specifically for tournament environments.
PGL Major Singapore 2026 will feature 32 teams
PGL Major Singapore 2026 is scheduled for November 25 to December 13 and will bring together 32 teams competing for a $1.25 million prize pool.
The tournament will be played across three stages, with the final four days taking place in front of a live audience at Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Alongside becoming the first Counter-Strike Major in Southeast Asia, the tournament will now also serve as the first major test of 720Hz OLED monitors at the highest level of competitive CS.
