The MongolZ have started a new stage of rebuilding after a weak stretch on the international scene. After a series of unsuccessful results, the organization decided to intervene in the situation, and the changes affected two players who had joined the active roster only recently.
Changes after an unsuccessful stretch
The decision to make roster changes looks like a direct reaction to the team’s recent results. The Mongolian roster could not show the expected level at major tournaments and gradually reached a point where changes in the lineup became almost inevitable.
The most painful results were the performances at Esports World Cup 2026, where the team ended its run in 9th–16th place, as well as the failure at FISSURE Playground 3, where The MongolZ finished last. Against this background, the organization decided to remove from the active five exactly the players who were supposed to give the team a new impulse.
DarkMeister and tikuak lost their starting spots
The organization officially moved Zolbayar “tikuak” Chimedtseren and Dugarsuren “DarkMeister” Ireedui to the bench. For both of them, this stage in the starting lineup turned out to be very short, as their time on the active roster lasted only about two months.
During this period, both players did not manage to fully establish themselves as stable performers at a high level. In total, they played nine matches for the team, while their individual ratings were 0.91 for tikuak and 0.92 for DarkMeister, which only underlines the difficulty of adapting against stronger opponents.
The problems were not only with the two newcomers
However, it would be too simple to reduce The MongolZ’s crisis only to the play of tikuak and DarkMeister. The team as a whole looked unstable, and the results pointed to broader problems in the system, the structure of the game, and the ability to maintain their level at serious international events.
FISSURE Playground 3 became especially telling, where the roster was already far from a stable version. At the tournament, the team played with Anarbileg “cobrazera” Uuganbayar instead of Sodbayar “Techno” Munkhbold, which only further highlighted the lack of cohesion and made it harder to assess the real potential of this roster.
What the roster looks like now
After another round of changes, the team effectively has the following players left in the active part:
- Garidmagnai “bLitz” Byambasuren
- Usukhbayar “910” Banzragch
- Sodbayar “Techno” Munkhbold
- Erdenedalai “maaRaa” Bayanbat (coach)
At the same time, the bench list now looks quite large, as DarkMeister, tikuak, and cobrazera are already outside the active five. This means that The MongolZ are facing not just a local adjustment, but essentially a new stage in building a competitive roster.
The team does not have much time
The MongolZ do not have too much time for a calm rebuild. The team’s next tournament is expected to be PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 in the second half of October, which means the club has a little over a month to decide on its further direction.
The main question now is not only who exactly will fill the vacancies, but also whether the organization will be able to quickly restore structural stability. If that does not happen, even new roster decisions may turn out to be only a temporary pause in a prolonged crisis, rather than its real solution.
