Valve has released a nighttime update for Counter-Strike 2 that affects the container opening system and cosmetic items. The main change is the introduction of the X-Ray Scanner for certain European regions, as well as the removal of stickers related to the Budapest Major.
Valve adapts mechanics
The case opening system in Counter-Strike has long been a key part of the game’s economy. At the same time, it is regulated by legislation in different countries, forcing Valve to adapt mechanics to local requirements. That is why the company periodically introduces alternative ways of interacting with containers — including the X-Ray system, which has already been used in some regions before.

Changes to case opening
The main change in the update affects players from Germany and the Netherlands. A new X-Ray Scanner tab will appear for them in the game, effectively replacing standard container opening.
The system works under new rules:
- containers can only be opened through the X-Ray Scanner
- before use, players must activate the exclusive Genuine P250 | X-ray item, which cannot be traded
- after that, players can preview the contents of containers before opening them
At the same time, containers without keys, including Souvenir Packages, remain unchanged and are opened in the standard way.
Removal of Budapest Major content
In addition to gameplay changes, Valve has also removed stickers related to the Budapest Major from the game. Such decisions are usually связано with the end of the lifecycle of tournament-related content. After Majors conclude, Valve gradually clears the store of old capsules and items to make room for new releases.
What this means for players
The introduction of the X-Ray Scanner once again shows that Valve continues to adapt the Counter-Strike 2 economy to regional requirements. Although the changes currently affect only certain countries, the approach itself may indicate further experimentation with the case system and item acquisition methods in the future.

Limited content update
The new Counter-Strike 2 update does not introduce large-scale content but changes important aspects of the game — primarily the economy and interaction with containers.
The implementation of the X-Ray Scanner and the removal of Budapest Major content show that Valve continues to gradually reshape the internal structure of the game, preparing it for new conditions and future updates.
