StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 has become the most international event in Counter-Strike 2 history. 160 players, 32 teams, and 37 countries — no Major before has gathered such worldwide diversity. Budapest is more than a championship; it’s a world map of CS2, where Brazil meets Mongolia, China meets Ukraine, and every region brings its own story to the stage.

37 Countries, One Tournament

A total of 37 nations are represented. From Brazil and China to Guatemala, Taiwan, and Portugal, the competition now spans every continent. CS2 has truly gone global. Players like ropz from Estonia, torzsi from Hungary, malbsMd from Guatemala, Marek from Taiwan, and dgt from Uruguay stand as the only representatives of their countries — proof of how far the scene has expanded beyond traditional borders. Notably, this is the first time in Major history that a player from Taiwan will compete on the world stage.

Beyond the biggest scenes, several nations are represented by only a handful of players. Countries like Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Finland, Germany, Kazakhstan, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, South Africa, Latvia, and the United Kingdom each send two players.

Meanwhile, Argentina, Chile, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Guatemala, Hungary, Kosovo, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Belarus, Portugal, Spain, Taiwan, and Uruguay are represented by just one player apiece — true lone flag-bearers on the Budapest stage.

How the National Map Has Changed Since Austin Major 2025

Compared to Austin, the Budapest Major introduces several shifts in global representation. Lithuania, which had one player at the previous Major, is no longer represented this time — the nation drops out of the lineup entirely.

In contrast, the Budapest event welcomes new countries that did not appear in Austin: Portugal, Kosovo, and the Czech Republic. Their arrival highlights how the evolving VRS system and rising regional competition continue reshaping the international Counter-Strike landscape.

Regional Breakdown

According to the regional chart, Budapest Major 2025 is still heavily European, but no longer Europe-only. Roughly 52.5% of the 160-player field comes from Europe, 27.2% from the Americas, and 20.3% from Asia. Europe remains the core of top-tier CS2, yet the growing shares of the Americas and Asia show how quickly Brazil, China, Mongolia and other non-European scenes are catching up.
