StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 will bring eight teams to Barcelona from September 17 to 20 for a compact four-day tournament. With a double-elimination bracket, every team will have a second chance after an early loss, but the short schedule still leaves little room for mistakes. MOUZ and Vitality arrive as the biggest names in the field, while FURIA, Aurora, NAVI, magic, MIBR, and NRG all enter the event with very different questions surrounding their current form.
Ahead of StarSeries, Skin.Club spoke with Tedd about the tournament format, the main favorites, and every team in attendance. He sees MOUZ as the most stable side heading into Barcelona, expects Vitality to remain their main challenger, and believes MIBR have the potential to become one of the biggest surprises of the tournament. At the same time, he has significantly more concerns about FURIA’s schedule, NAVI’s current state, magic playing with a stand-in, and NRG’s chances against European opposition.
Double Elimination Fits a Four-Day Tournament
With only eight teams competing, StarSeries will use a double-elimination bracket instead of a Swiss stage. For an event that lasts just four days, Tedd believes this is the more practical approach. A larger Swiss system would require more teams, more matches, and significantly more time and resources, while StarLadder already has experience running events with a similar bracket.

He also pointed out that a Swiss system would make much more sense with a 16-team field rather than the current eight. The format should help reduce the impact of one bad opening series, as teams will still have an opportunity to recover after an early defeat.
MOUZ Are the Team Everyone Has to Beat
MOUZ enter StarSeries as the most convincing team in the field. Their recent results have been strong, but Tedd believes their biggest advantage is not simply the number of matches they are winning. He highlighted their preparation, fundamentals, adaptation during series, and the overall cleanliness of their Counter-Strike as the main reasons why they stand above most of the competition. Tedd made his position clear when discussing the favorite for the title.
This should be the only logical answer. It should be MOUZ to win the event
Since the start of the season, MOUZ have rarely lost outside of matches against Spirit and FUT, while continuing to produce strong performances against other elite teams. Tedd also praised the way the team has adapted to changes inside the lineup and the progress of xertioN in his new responsibilities.

He also shared that MOUZ may currently be playing some of the cleanest Counter-Strike in the world from a structural point of view. The main question is whether their individuals can consistently deliver in the biggest matches, because the tactical foundation already looks strong enough to win this event. For Tedd, StarSeries is exactly the type of tournament MOUZ should win if they want to prove that they belong among the very best teams in the world.
Vitality Remain MOUZ’s Main Challenger
Vitality have looked more vulnerable recently than they did during their most dominant period, but Tedd does not believe that removes them from the group of title contenders. Even while playing with a stand-in at BLAST Open Porto, they still reached the semifinals and only lost to MOUZ.
With mezii returning to the lineup for StarSeries, Vitality will once again have their regular five-man roster. That should allow them to return to their usual structure rather than adjusting roles and ideas around a temporary player.
Tedd said there is still one obvious team alongside MOUZ at the top of the field.
Outside of MOUZ, there is only one correct answer who should be in the Grand Final, and that is Vitality
He also noted that Vitality remaining competitive with a stand-in says a lot about the quality of their system. Now, with the full lineup restored and mezii coming back rested, Tedd expects them to look sharper individually and once again challenge MOUZ directly for the trophy.
FURIA May Simply Be Playing Too Much Counter-Strike
FURIA arrive in Barcelona after a run in which they have struggled to beat the very best teams. However, Tedd does not see those results as evidence that the roster suddenly lacks quality. In his view, the bigger issue is the amount of Counter-Strike FURIA have played without enough time between tournaments to properly reset and prepare.
The team has moved from event to event with very limited opportunities to bootcamp, expand its playbook, and introduce new ideas. That can gradually make a team easier to prepare for, especially when opponents repeatedly see the same tendencies. Tedd explained that the schedule is exposing FURIA’s problems more clearly.
Sometimes the playbook is just running dry and it’s getting a little bit easier to predict
He did not consider losses to teams such as Vitality or Spirit disastrous on their own, but he questioned FURIA’s decision to continue playing additional events instead of taking time off. Tedd specifically felt that playing FISSURE was a mistake and that the team would have benefited more from rest and a proper period of practice.
As a result, he is not particularly optimistic about FURIA ahead of StarSeries. The team still has the individual level to compete, but without enough preparation time, it becomes harder to change the things that have already been exposed by their opponents.

Aurora Have a Chance to Show What the New Project Can Become
Aurora are one of the more difficult teams to evaluate because their new international project is still at an early stage. The lineup has talent, but players and staff are simultaneously dealing with communication, cultural differences, new roles, and the process of building a clear identity.
StarSeries could nevertheless be a very good tournament for them. Outside of MOUZ and Vitality, Tedd does not see another team that enters Barcelona as an obvious title contender, which leaves room for Aurora to make a deep run.
Tedd shared that his expectations are relatively high despite the uncertainty.
I would put them in my top four in terms of expectations
At the same time, he is not fully convinced by the project yet. Aurora have not consistently beaten bigger names with this version of the lineup, and some members still need time to become comfortable in an international environment. Tedd believes the talent is there for them to reach the top four, but the team remains a work in progress rather than a finished product. He also stressed that a disappointing StarSeries should not lead to another immediate roster change. Tedd said the changes Aurora made were too significant to judge after only a few months.
I really hope they don’t make any changes, even if they don’t get instant results
The priority should be giving the lineup enough time to solve communication issues, define its style, and allow everyone to properly adapt to the new environment.
NAVI Look Like a Team Waiting for Changes
NAVI come into StarSeries with perhaps the most worrying form among the established teams at the event. Tedd believes their problems go beyond individual performances and may be connected to what happened during the offseason.
According to him, NAVI were interested in making roster changes but were unable to complete them. When existing players know the organization has been considering replacements, maintaining trust and confidence inside the lineup becomes considerably more difficult. Tedd said the current version of NAVI does not look sustainable.
I don’t really see a massive future for this five-man lineup
The team has also played relatively few official series since the Major, but the matches they did play created more questions than answers. Tedd highlighted the losses to M80 and G2 at BLAST Open Porto as particularly concerning examples.
He shared that the issue now appears to affect the entire team rather than one or two players. Individual performances are declining, the lineup lacks the same confidence it once had, and from the outside it feels as though everyone is waiting to see what roster changes eventually arrive. Tedd summed up the situation directly.
It doesn’t really look like a functional team from the outside
StarSeries therefore becomes another opportunity for the current five to show that they can still turn the situation around before more serious decisions have to be made.
magic Lose Much of Their Upset Potential With a Stand-In
magic could have been one of the more interesting underdogs at StarSeries with their complete starting five. Instead, the team will have to compete with its coach because of AW’s visa issue, significantly lowering expectations before the tournament even begins.
Tedd likes the full lineup and believes several of magic’s players have been underrated. He also highlighted AW as an important part of the team’s recent performances, making his absence particularly painful. Tedd admitted that the stand-in situation changes his expectations substantially.
I’m not expecting heroic things out of them when they’re playing with the coach
Their opening match against Vitality makes the situation even more difficult. magic may still benefit from having almost no pressure and could steal a map if opponents underestimate them, but a deep run becomes much harder to imagine when one of the team’s regular players is unavailable.
MIBR Could Be the Biggest Dark Horse
MIBR may be the team Tedd is most interested in outside of the two main favorites. Their recent performances have shown real potential, and he believes the direction of the project is promising enough for them to challenge for a top-three or top-four finish.
One of the biggest reasons for his optimism is the team’s recent roster change. Tedd believes the new addition gives MIBR another player with significant long-term potential, especially because of his experience across several different roles. The rest of the lineup also gives MIBR enough firepower to make a deep run, with insani performing at a strong level and nqz adding another dangerous individual piece. Tedd shared his expectations clearly.
I genuinely believe they will be one of the pleasant surprises of StarSeries
Their recent series against Legacy was one of the clearest examples of the team’s potential, as MIBR pushed the match all the way to a deciding map and overtime. For Tedd, that result was more than just a respectable loss. It showed that MIBR can genuinely compete with strong opponents, and he believes many people are still underestimating how dangerous the team can become after the change.
NRG Face an Extremely Difficult Road
NRG enter StarSeries after spending most of their recent schedule playing North American opposition. While they have shown positive moments domestically, Tedd has not seen enough against European teams to believe they are ready to make a serious run in Barcelona.
Their limited experience against international competition has produced mixed results, and even their recent best-of-five against Liquid ended in defeat despite NRG taking two maps. Their opening matchup also makes the situation considerably harder, as they begin the tournament against MOUZ.Tedd said he has very low expectations for their run.
I think NRG, unfortunately for me, is just going to be a 0–2 team
Even if NRG show improvement compared to their previous international appearances, immediately facing the tournament favorite leaves them with almost no margin for error. For them, simply showing that they can remain competitive against this level of opposition would already be an encouraging sign.
MOUZ and Vitality Set the Standard in Barcelona
The eight-team field may look relatively open on paper, but Tedd sees a clear hierarchy before the first match begins. MOUZ are his strongest favorite because of their consistency, preparation, and overall quality of play, while Vitality remain the most obvious team capable of challenging them for the title.
Behind those two, things become much less predictable. Aurora have enough talent to reach the top four but still need time to develop as an international lineup. MIBR could be the event’s biggest surprise if their recent improvement continues. FURIA remain dangerous but may be suffering from an overloaded schedule, while NAVI arrive with serious structural and confidence issues.
magic’s chances have been damaged by the need to play with a coach, and NRG face an uphill battle against stronger international opposition. That leaves StarSeries with two clear favorites but plenty of uncertainty behind them — exactly the kind of field where one unexpected run could completely change the tournament.
