Why CS2 sensitivity converts 1:1 to Left 4 Dead 2

Left 4 Dead 2 is a 2009 Valve game on the original Source engine, and it uses the same 0.022° per count as CS2. At the same DPI, sensitivity 1.8 in CS2 is sensitivity 1.8 in L4D2.

Use the converter if your DPI differs between the two games: CS2 1.8 at 800 DPI is L4D2 3.600 at 400 DPI. You’ll also see your cm/360°, in/360° and eDPI for the current setup.

CS2 to Left 4 Dead 2 formula

L4D2 sens = CS2 sens × CS2 DPI ÷ L4D2 DPI. You can enter the result in the options menu or type it in the console, for example sensitivity 1.8.

Raw input in Left 4 Dead 2

CS2 always reads raw mouse input. In L4D2 it’s optional: m_rawinput is off by default, so the game can be affected by Windows pointer settings. Set m_rawinput 1 in the console or your autoexec to make the converted value behave like it does in CS2.

faq

  • Is Left 4 Dead 2 sensitivity the same as CS2?

Yes, at the same DPI. Both games use the Source yaw of 0.022°, so equal values give equal cm/360°.

  • Why does L4D2 feel different with the same number?

Check raw input first. With m_rawinput 0, Windows pointer settings can change how the mouse moves in game, which CS2 never allows.

  • Can I set L4D2 sensitivity through the console?

Yes. The sensitivity command works as in CS2. Add it to autoexec.cfg if you want it applied on every launch.
